Re: Where did the rest of the keyboard shortcuts go in 18.3?

Alt + middle mouse button is toggle raise/lower (configured as a Window Action). You can configure other Actions in Window Manager Settings (accessible from the window menu > More Actions). I can't make heads or tails of KDE keyboard shortcuts; why isn't there a list of window manager keyboard short...

Re: Accidently removed panel

Have them press Alt + F2 to open the run dialog. Here type the command cinnamon-settings panel (cinnamon <dash> settings <space> panel, and press Enter to run) and that will open the panel settings. From here a new panel can be added. It will ask where to add it; click at the bottom of the screen an...

Re: LM forum request- easy Bookmarks and Subscriptions access

Bookmarks and subscriptions are basically the same (a future phpBB version hopefully merges them). For both you get notifications when something happens to the topic (as configured here https://forums.linuxmint.com/ucp.php?i=ucp_notifications&mode=notification_options). Using the bookmarks or subscr...

Have you tried this bit? It's what gm10 is showing as solution for exact same issue.

Also check in Terminal in it's Edit > Profile Preferences menu that (on the General tab) it's select to use system fixed width font and not something custom.

Re: 'e' doesn't work in terminal after installing some programs

Hm, if that is the case try running this command (will be quicker than sorting through those files):
type -a e

Should answer: "bash: type: e: not found"

Edit: actually, that wouldn't stop you from being able to type the letter 'e'. Nevermind!

Re: Autodesk Maya on linux Mint

Obviously majority of people won't be using Maya; it's a very specialist program. Looking at a guide like https://linuxhint.com/install_autodesk_maya_ubuntu_1804/ it shows it to be a very error prone process, which is a given when trying to run software packaged for one OS on another. Start by shari...

Well, yes, in your case you could have just delete everything in the directory  The command makes sure any other readers don't delete other files by accident.

Re: Firejail

This should do it if you don't have firecfg:
sudo find -P /usr/local/bin/ -lname /usr/bin/firejail -print -delete

That finds all files in /usr/local/bin/ that are a link to /usr/bin/firejail, prints their name and then deletes them.

Re: Firejail

Firecfg installs symbolics links to for the programs on your system for which there is a firejail profile, so that those programs are run with firejail by default. Uninstalling firejail wouldn't remove those symbolic links, but it would break them so that they aren't used—until you install firejail ...

Re: 18.3 vs 19.0 what is recommended for non linux expert?

The Input method settings in Cinnamon appear to install fcitx when you select Japanese. I can't make heads or tails of fcitx; it appears to do precisely nothing aside from launching a status icon. Even install fcitx-anthy which for some reason Input method didn't install for Japanese, selecting that...

Re: 18.3 vs 19.0 what is recommended for non linux expert?

While it's true newer versions of software can introduce new bugs (and regressions), newer versions also fix existing bugs. Linux Mint 18.3, and its package base Ubuntu 16.04, are in maintenance mode and only get fixes for security issues and critical, show stopping, bugs that would affect large num...

Re: Darktable 2.4 no longer starts on Linux Mint 18.3 “Sylvia”

jasper is the source name; from it can be compiled several different packages. That's quite common, that a source gets split into multiple packages on your system. For brevity Linux Mint shows them all under their source name, to reduce the number of packages shown in the Update Manager list. You sh...

Re: Darktable 2.4 no longer starts on Linux Mint 18.3 “Sylvia”

Okay, to be clear: Update Manager will offer you libjasper1 from that PPA again as an upgrade. Options: - You can deselect it manually whenever installing upgrades through Update Manager - You could add libjasper1 to the blacklist in Edit > Preferences menu of Update Manager Both will mean you won't...

Re: Darktable 2.4 no longer starts on Linux Mint 18.3 “Sylvia”

This shows your libjasper1 library not coming from the official repositories, but from some PPA you added. The PPA page seems to be one giant warning about things that can break: https://launchpad.net/~anton+/+archive/ubuntu/photo-video-apps?field.series_filter=xenial You can try downgrading the lib...
