Re: Remove Program Permanently

Have you restarted the browser yet? I think it tags the extensions as pending for removal until you close your browser session.

Re: Firefox 57...Quantum

Using an older version of Firefox is not safe. The new version includes both security fixes and new features. Using the older version of Firefox means you are using something with known security issues.

Re: Questions about the session dbus

I only occasionally work with D-Bus and I don't have an answer to your questions, but have you compared your tools' results with what d-feet (the D-Bus debugger) shows you?

Re: Forum File Attachments

When the problem is solved and attachments functionality can be enabled again, I'll note it here.

phpBB indeed changed it so that if guests aren't permitted to see the profiles of registered users (which they aren't on our board) that they also can't see which registered users are online.

Re: How to protect privacy from a router that logs websites visited

I doubt anybody is going to share with you their website logs. Wasn't the topic at hand about privacy? :) If you don't want your router to log information about what you visit, only "No logging" will achieve that. All other options will effectively log what websites you visited. The normal...

Re: Trouble with an AppImage program

I am running 64-bit LM-Mate and the ia32-libs are installed - every 32-bit AppImage I have tried exits with an error. e.g. ./etcher-1.1.2-i386.AppImage: error while loading shared libraries: libfuse.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory While ia32-libs covers the most freq...

Re: firefox 57 font settings for mint

I go to 'preferences' >> language and appearance >> fonts & colors but ... I can't find the 'bold' option! That sets default fonts for websites, if the website itself doesn't set a font. It doesn't affect your browser menu. You would have to try the font settings for system-wide, but that will ...

Re: Maintaining file dates

Linux doesn't use file creation dates (currently). It uses: access - last time the file was accessed (read) modify - last time file contents was modified change - last time file status was changed The file creation date of your photos is stored in the photos themselves as metadata. If you use a phot...

Re: Trouble with an AppImage program

When you reinstall to the 64-bit version of Linux Mint you will need to use the 64-bit AppImage. That would make sense, but you can run 32 bit software on a 64 bit Linux Mint installation just fine (you may need to install ia32-libs first, which adds libraries 32 bit programs need to run). The othe...

Re: To start a mint local community, Do I have to be an expert?

You can take inspiration from other local communities: https://linuxmint.com/links.php. You'll find blogs, forums, mailinglists and IRC channels and more. Some have just a forum, others have gone all out. Just start with something you feel comfortable with and take it from there. If there is some ac...

Re: I want to so bad switch to Linux but I feel like I can't right now. I hope I'm wrong.

I hope one day I can just start up Wine and it can run all of my programs without any issues and it will run at native speeds. This statement summarizes why you should probably just stay on Windows. As long as your ideal for Linux is to be able to use it to run Windows programs, you're better of ju...

What is the program you're trying to use and from where did you download it? Perhaps we can give better advice if we can try it on our own.

BTW, I've split this discussion from the tutorial.

Re: Chrome - Graphical Artifacts

Try disabling hardware acceleration. Go to Settings in Chrome and from there at the bottom click Advanced and scroll down to the System category. There you can disable hardware acceleration. Probably need to restart Chrome to activate. See if this works better.

Like which extensions? All but one of my extensions work on FF57 or have a good alternative that does.

Re: How to export passwords from FireFox57?

Well, you got yourself in a bit of a bind there. Firefox' password manager is a bit rubbish. Indeed, you can't export passwords stored in Firefox. You can copy them to another Firefox, but you can't export them. There was an extension https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/password-exporter/ th...
