Re: install doesn't find windows 10

We discussed on IRC it would be helpful to see your partitions. Share the output of this command:
lsblk -o +FSTYPE,PARTTYPE,PARTFLAGS

Re: Firejail 0.9.50 is out

Some interesting new options. I think the profiles should be reworked though. For example the firefox.profile file uses a mix of noblacklist and whitelist to indicate which files and directories in your home directory it needs access to. It includes the disable-programs.inc file to backlist a huge p...

Re: Run pluma from script and wait for file close

I don't think Pluma can do this. You need a text editor that supports the option to block till the opened file is closed again. Depending on your version, Xed ( xed -w filename ), Gedit ( gedit -w filename ) and Kate ( kate -b filename ) do support this. Those commands will not complete until you've...

Re: Video editor

For OpenShot the user guide provides some info: http://www.openshot.org/user-guide/. I think you'll want to look at the Clips and Transitions chapters. Like for Kdenlive, a video tutorial for transitioning clips is probably good to get started. Perhaps https://www.shotcutapp.com/ is easier, at least...

This is a hard one to help on unless one also has an account at that bank  I have no problem getting to the login screen or the forgot password screen and it doesn't look to have any content that Chrome should have a problem with (you can see what platform and frameworks a website is using wit...

Re: Differences between gksudo/kdesudo, sudo, and su

Perhaps for the sake of clarity you could more precisely define what you mean by "graphical programs" please? (Do you mean any programs that have a GUI, and if so why would you be running these from the command line anyway?) Programs with a graphical user interface, as opposed to programs...

Re: All browsers crash with "illegal instruction"

You can use the pencil icon in the top right of the first post in this topic to edit that post. Change the subject on the first post and it will update also the subject of the topic. Add <SOLVED> or similar to the subject. Good find on a web browser that doesn't require SSE2. There are likely others...

Re: All browsers crash with "illegal instruction"

Could you share me the output of the command lscpu as that might give another clue. For example many browsers will require CPU support for sse2 instructions.

Re: All browsers crash with "illegal instruction"

I have a hard time coming up with what those browsers could have in common that causes such a crash. Especially when you throw Chromium in the mix. The one thing I do spot is you have a VIA graphics card. Most modern web browsers use the graphics chip for handling multimedia and such. Given that VIA...

Re: mintUpdate pulling 4.9 kernel ??

No, when a repository server isn't reachable that repository is ignored entirely . Meaning if you install or upgrade packages, you do so with the package manager applying those changes with no knowledge of that repository. This isn't a two step thing; when a repository server isn't reachable, it is ...

Re: mintUpdate pulling 4.9 kernel ??

This is unfortunate but it's not an issue in Update Manager specifically. The same happens in all other package managers if the user ignores errors they are shown and applies upgrades despite having been shown errors about their repository servers. I did some testing by setting the Debian repository...

Re: LibreOffice Writer is not Captalizing 1st character of sentence

Thanks for sharing the example, that clarifies a lot. For "Capitalize first letter of every sentence " auto correct looks at sentences, not lines. How you format your sentence — whether you use hard line endings (pressing enter to split a sentence over multiple lines) or soft line endings ...

Re: Change Nemo language

Can you share the output of the command locale run on the terminal? You can select and copy text from the terminal through its Edit menu. The locale command displays how you've set your system language and such. Please also share the output of locale -a for completeness sake.

Yes, that I also checked for, and that is what the [T] means at top of the column. To avoid any confusion, this is what I meant: https://i.imgur.com/UjkDkbR.png Two things I'd try if I were in your shoes: 1) Create a new user account and log in to that. Try LibreOffice without changing any settings...
