Re: BETA-TEST: Fastly repositories

Coggy wrote: Thu Apr 11, 2024 3:37 pm Disappointed that fastly only does legacy IP - can't do IPV6.
IPv6 DNS records would need to be added for fastly.linuxmint.io. There are currently only IPv4 DNS records for that domain hence no IPv6 connection.

Fastly itself does do IPv6.

This has never been an option. Linux Mint installs a default set of programs. After installation is done you can add/remove programs.

Re: Is there a terminal command to get the information from System Info app?

You can find such answers yourself. Open your menu editor (right-click on menu button), find System Info and check its properties. You find the command it runs is "cinnamon-settings info". You can run dpkg -S $(which cinnamon settings) to find it is installed from the cinnamon package Then...

sudo lightdm-settings The listed steps are for when you can no longer get to your desktop to open a terminal, when you need to repair it from a virtual console. Your command doesn't work on the virtual console because Login Window is a GUI program. If you can still get to the desktop you can simply...

Re: Help with downloading Bombono

According to its website https://bombono.com/ it has been unmaintained for the past 8 years. The PPA they instruct you to use https://launchpad.net/~muravjov-il/+archive/ubuntu/ppa has not been updated in the past 10 years so doesn't support any current Linux Mint version. If there is a chance of ma...

Re: Resseting authentification password gone terribly bad

I wish you asked for help earlier :( I'm sorry to say but I think you won't be able to decrypt your files. With home directory encryption you must only change the account password while logged in to it and on the desktop. The password wraps the encryption passphrase and when the password is changed ...

Re: Saving terminal settings after a logout

When you log out your session ends. That closes any user apps, like your terminal. Don't log out if you want to keep user apps running. If you're logged in to a server on your terminal you can use screen or tmux, which will let you keep the shell session on the server and you can reattach again to i...

16270 /timeshift So almost half of your disk usage, 16 GB, is for system snapshots. Not surprising as you can see the OS directories (everything but /timeshift and /home) adds up to almost 14GB and Timeshift keeps multiple system snapshots (without duplicating files) so it will grow a bit over time...

You can use MPRIS D-Bus interface for this; https://specifications.freedesktop.org/mpris-spec/latest/. You don't need to write your own dbus-send commands, though you can, but you can use the playerctl command: https://github.com/altdesktop/playerctl. I think apt install playerctl to get it on Linux...
