Re: Firefox ESR 52.9 last one on Jessie (LMDE 2)?

Something is broken on your end. LMDE 2 has Firefox ESR 60.2, see: http://packages.linuxmint.com/search.php?release=Betsy§ion=any&keyword=firefox You must have somehow locked yourself to Firefox ESR 52.9. Suggest to start with you sharing the output of these two commands run from the terminal. Y...

Very sharp, thanks. That's built from the same source package. Added it above.

Re: * LibSSH Flaw Allows Hackers to Take Over Servers Without Password

You're only affected if you have libssh-4 or libssh-gcrypt-4 package on your system and then only if you're running a publicly reachable SSH server on your system. The libssh-2 package is something else and not affected by CVE-2018-10933. Other SSH packages are also not affected. To best of my know...

four different eeePC computers which give the message. There's too many netbooks that go by the "eeePC" name to tell anything from that. Re: help for firefox and lan

Is this just a problem in Firefox? As in, can you copy files to it with your file manager. Possibly you haven't configured a mount for this nas and so by opening the nas location in your file manager you're dynamically mounting it. The mount wouldn't exist before that. Test that. Open it in your fil...

Should likely work. If it doesn't work, refer to "Issues with KDE apps" in the release notes: https://linuxmint.com/rel_rosa_mate.php

Reporting here as summoned :) The forums only supports TLS 1.2 and does not support protocol downgrading to TLS 1.1/1.0 or SSL. Testing with https://testssl.sh/ from my own system and with https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/index.html remotely (which test from dozens of different configurations) confir...

Re: [Linux Mint 19 + Cinnamon] How to resize swap area on an encrypted volume?

With the added information from your other topic, I'd suggest you could just disable swap. It's generally recommended to have swap set to 20% of physical RAM (unless you need to be able to suspend to disk) but personally I just don't use swap on my 16 GiB RAM system at all. It depends on the workloa...

Re: Linux Mint Upgrade Error.

In addition to above to delete the duplicate line you have in your repositories, to solve the NO_PUBKEY for your Lutris repository you need to redo the instructions for adding their repository because you botched that. From https://lutris.net/downloads/. You used the Debian instructions while you're...

Re: [Linux Mint 19 + Cinnamon] How to resize swap area on an encrypted volume?

So either there is a logical volume for swap within the encrypted LVM partition or it's using a swap file. Let's first figure out exactly which. From your system run this command from the terminal and share output here:
swapon --show

Re: software rendering

Software rendering usually means the driver for your graphics card doesn't support hardware accelerated rendering. The CPU can also do the rendering but it is less efficient (obviously) at it than the GPU. MATE and Xfce don't use the GPU by default for their graphics while Cinnamon does. Hence the d...

Re: I wonder if this would work... criticism and suggestions welcome

I can't imagine what you're doing that needs RAID 0 because your 3,200 GB/s NVMe drives are too slow . Or that you'd see any significant or even noticeable difference with RAID 0 on such drives except in benchmarks. Real world applications do stuff with the data they are loading and drive speed is j...

Re: Transfering programs from old to new installation

In short: that won't work. Linux Mint 17.3 and 18.3 use a different package base (Ubuntu 14.04 vs 16.04) and thus have different versions of system libraries, or will even use entirely different libraries for specific areas. Programs are compiled to work with the system libraries that come with the ...

Assuming they bought Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, they can download it for Linux, Windows and macOS without limitation. It works on Linux Mint 17.x, 18.x and 19.x.
