Re: How to use Workspaces

There is only 1 Cinnamon panel across workspaces so you can't put different things on the panel for different workspaces. The app launchers on the left are part of the grouped window list applet. You can "pin to panel" any app to put its launcher there. But the applet isn't aware of worksp...

Please add which Linux Mint you're using. The version and the desktop environment (Cinnamon/MATE/Xfce). If you're not use check in the System Info program or open the System Reports program and go to System Information on the left. Or run inxi -S

So long as you don't deliberately change the BIOS logo image you should be fine.

Re: Bios may be hacked but i have no clue.

That's a reality unfortunately, motherboard manufacturers supported their products only a couple of years if that with BIOS updates. Maybe it's a getting bit better now. Anyway not all UEFI motherboards or systems are vulnerable. For example Dell and Apple have extra protections (won't let you chang...

Re: Bios may be hacked but i have no clue.

If you've been hacked, you were the one to do it — you went into the BIOS and set the image to one you download from somewhere, or you ran some program from the motherboard manufacturer to customize the image. If you didn't it is unlikely you are affected. I don't know how you can check if you are a...

Re: Bios may be hacked but i have no clue.

That vulnerability is called "LogoFAIL". Here's the (very technical) article from the researchers that discovered it: https://www.binarly.io/blog/finding-logofail-the-dangers-of-image-parsing-during-system-boot The short of it is that many UEFI firmware manufacturers were caught red handed...

Re: IRC Chat offline - pls help

At times the SpotChat network, on which the Mint IRC channels are located, blocks mibbit. That means you can't use a web based IRC client. You will have to use an actual IRC client app. Like HexChat, that comes preinstalled with Linux Mint. On Linux Mint simply start it to connect to the Mint IRC ch...

Re: Linux Mint time incorrect after booting Windows

Do you drive a delorean maybe :) Or what's a "time fuse". From time of year I guess you mean DST is in effect. The problem is you have set Windows to use local time for the hardware clock and Linux to use UTC (universal) time. Because Windows and Linux read the hardware clock differently, ...

Re: Malware in xz (but don't panic: not in your Mint)

To the best of my understanding Flathub does not and did not ship xz with malware. [Open source] apps from Flathub are safe. For apps that require xz Flathub uses the Freedesktop runtime. That already downgraded xz to 5.4.6 but even before downgrading it did not include the malware because it downlo...

Re: Mint gooit steeds mijn achtergrond weg!

Re: Mint gooit steeds mijn achtergrond weg!

Re: Ubuntu Repositories

You can browse the contents of the Linux Mint repositories online here: http://packages.linuxmint.com/. On your system you can run apt policy packagename to see where a package was installed from. Firefox and Chromium are snap packages on Ubuntu 22.04, the package base for Linux Mint 21.x. Linux Min...

Re: Mint user says he has issues with my Jam Prep Page

You can use any random image host for sharing huge images. Like imgur.com or imgbb.com. I tried it on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon with Firefox 124.0.1. I can click on the A S R M cells in both tables to make those letters appear in the clicked cells. It also works with Firefox browser security set to t...

Re: Malware in xz (but don't panic: not in your Mint)

JiaT75 on GitHub: https://github.com/JiaT75. In case he erases his account I've made a (ugly, but with working links) copy of their GitHub activity log. He contributed at least to libarchive and to Google's oss-fuzz, the latter maybe to make that not detect his xz malware. For libarchive somebody re...

They're a bronze sponsor. They help make Linux Mint possible. Look to the Right changed their name to C0MPLÉX1; https://www.c0mplex1.com/blog/look-to-t ... -c0mplex1/
