Re: [19.1 Mate] Change MDM for choise AD domain user

I have no experience with active directory but note that Linux Mint 19.1 used LightDM as display manager, not MDM. Searching for possible earlier solutions on Linux Mint 19.x / Ubuntu 18.04 you want something that works for LightDM.

Re: File extension statistics ?

File extensions don't mean much in Linux, but sure. Perhaps a command like this: find . -type f -printf '%f\n' | grep '^[^.].*\.' | awk -F. '{print $NF}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -n This finds all files in the current directory and prints their name, ignores any files that start with a dot, prints th...

Re: How to remove Franz?

It's available from the website as either a .deb file (which you would be able to remove through Synaptic or command apt purge franz ) or an AppImage file. Perhaps you used the AppImage file? I'd try searching for Franz in your home directory as perhaps the AppImage installed there? You can try comm...

Re: Gnome terminal not opening from context menu.

"A terminal built on web technologies." What madness is this. Are we going to need ad blockers in our terminal? I can't reproduce your issue after installing, running and then uninstalling hyper. Some stuff probably still left in your home directory you can remove: rm -rvf ~/.hyper.js ~/.hyper...

Re: Linux Mint, Gnomes & Goblins

Not sure if serious but I'll bite as the resident gremlin. GNOME is free software project https://www.gnome.org/. Besides developing the GNOME desktop environment—of which Cinnamon and MATE originated as forks—they develop a plethora of applications https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps which can be called "G...

I'd give up on Opera for your current system. Using Opera 45 is a serious security risk.

Re: Opera browser won't access ticketing site

Like kevin987 said above, Opera 12 is long obsoleted and shouldn't be used at all. You should switch to Opera 58 but looking at your system specs you don't have that option; Opera 58 is only available for 64 bit systems. The same goes for Google Chrome BTW.

Spaces in signatures are for humans (as we have trouble reading). Computers don't care and the spaces aren't part of the actual signature. You're fine.

I don't have Flash installed here. With Firefox I could get to the checkout page where I had to enter payment method information. On the first page it showed a block where something Flash would have been shown. The the available seats perhaps? In any case you could try ordering with a web browser th...

Re: Can't Find Where To Download Gimp Resynthesizer

I think your computer is actually a 64-bit computer and you installed a 32-bit Linux Mint when you should have installed a 64-bit Linux Mint system. It is common knowledge now, that a lot of software is not being maintained or developed anymore for 32-bit computers. I'm trying to understand the rel...

Re: Can't Find Where To Download Gimp Resynthesizer

As per the resynthesizer developer https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer you can just install the package gimp-plugin-registry on Linux Mint and its included in that. Mind to check you have GIMP 2.8 and not 2.10. The above package is for GIMP 2.8 as from the Linux Mint repository. Possibly you in...

Re: Eliminating Flash

That's a lot of files that aren't the flash plugin... What does dpkg -S /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so tell you? Does it list which package owns this file. That's the flash plugin. And don't delete files owned by packages from your system directories manually; use your package manager!...

Re: .deb vs Flatpak vs Snap vs AppImage: What to use when?

If you don't know why you'd want a different source of a program the safe bet is you will be perfectly fine with installing programs through Software Manager and will only need to go the other routes for programs that aren't available. The only benefits are: - to get a program that is not already av...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 Cindy

Moved topic to the LMDE 3 forum. We don't know yet. Looking back at LMDE 2, it was supported longer than Debian 8's support period—into the period where maintenance of Debian 8 was handed off to the separate LTS team—but not for entirety of the LTS period. Possibly we'll see similar for LMDE 3 and i...

Re: Downloading via mirrors vs Torrent: Which is best?

Personally I go for the torrent option if it is there because it will be faster for me. Also because download errors are detected by the torrent client while that is not the case for direct downloads through a web browser. Downloads can also be interrupted (or paused) and resumed at any later time w...
