Re: Forum narrowed to leftmost 60% of my monitor screen

You could try 100% instead of none as value.

Re: Good, bad, and direction of Linux Desktop UI

We've heard it all before. If you can't appreciate what the developers of one desktop environment are doing, you can pick another desktop environment. Doesn't invalidate the work they are doing in any way. There's plenty of choice and every so many months another choice pops up. There's something fo...

Re: Right-Mouse-Click in Mate and KDE Version Dying??

Try resetting the panel to default to see if that will bring back the normal window list. Open the terminal program from your menu and run this command: mate-panel --reset It should reload the panel immediately to default. If not, after running the command and not getting any error, log out and log ...

Re: How to bring a window to the front in MATE?

The icons to the right of the menu button are quick launchers. The window list is to the right of that.

Re: Right-Mouse-Click in Mate and KDE Version Dying??

Something is the matter on your end. Is this system wide or just one specific program? Are you using a normal mouse or a laptop touchpad? On MATE it doesn't automatically select items in the context (right-click) menu unless one keeps the mouse button held down and moves it into the menu and release...

Re: Forum narrowed to leftmost 60% of my monitor screen

Anybody familiar with setting user styles in their browser can override it with this CSS code (this removes the page width maximum): @-moz-document domain(forums.linuxmint.com) { .wrap { max-width: none; } } I think this is the info for Firefox on setting user styles for websites http://kb.mozillazi...

Re: Forum narrowed to leftmost 60% of my monitor screen

An earlier theme change was rolled back yesterday after feedback from widescreen users. The earlier theme change was to set the width of the page to unlimited width, as you had become accustomed to. Following how other websites handle text oriented pages, and how the default was on the theme our the...

Re: Any negative ramifications for using multiple-Google-account sign-in setup?

As such social websites keep track of relationships (who you interact with online and offline) I think it's safe to assume any information you wittingly, or unwittingly, volunteer to such social websites will be added by them to your tracking profile. That's how they make their money after all.

Proceed. Carry on. Make it so number one. We have an accord. Click, you fools! Remember when I said I'd click you last... I lied!

Some button ideas

Anyway, criticism about Firefox doesn't really say anything about Linux Desktop UI. That's taking it beyond Linux.

Re: Good, bad, and direction of Linux Desktop UI

- there's no "CANCEL" on FF (and many other GUIs), so if you fool around and accidentally change something, too bad, I hope you remember what it used to be! (this seems like a common GUI mistake). Not that I need it for Firefox but in such cases I would just press the print screen button. Take a qu...

Re: Optimization and performance: Using Linux Mint 19 as a gaming platform

Well in that case I guess using the Nvidia driver options to change it should be enough right? Yes :) And as for other desktop environments perhaps it would have some usefulness. Not unless the user changes their window manager to Compiz. In any case, don't make people install it if they following ...

Re: BIOS/UEFI Date/UTC time setting

If the BIOS forgets settings after powering down the computer, you should replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard. It's usually located somewhere in between or to the side of the expansion slots. Commonly a flat battery about the size of a coin.

Re: Optimization and performance: Using Linux Mint 19 as a gaming platform

Sure, but Cinnamon uses Muffin as window manager and doesn't switch to use Compiz window manager just because you install the Compiz settings manager. You can run that settings manager but anything you change in there affects only Compiz, not Muffin.

I highly doubt anybody reasons like that except some bored adolescents. Most p...
