Re: Crash when watching youtube

Please run the following command on the terminal and share its output here (you can select and copy text on the terminal through its Edit menu). This way others get a bit of info about your system and can with that hopefully help figure out the cause.

Re: Cant install "Authenticator"

The flathub.org repository seems to suffer performance issues a bit often. Suggestion is to try again at a later moment. To not have to find it in Software Manager each time you can also run this command from the terminal to try and install it: flatpak install flathub com.github.bilelmoussaoui.Authe...

Re: Repository question regarding universe

pyRenamer was available on Linux Mint 17.x and 18.x but as it's been dropped from Ubuntu 18.04's universe repository it's not available on Linux Mint 19. it might be a dead project as it's previously listed homepage is gone http://www.infinicode.org/code/pyrenamer/. Possibly you can download the pac...

Re: PSA! linuxmint.com data breach alert from LifeLock

We are only aware of a breach on our website in February 2016. The authoritative website https://haveibeenpwned.com/ does not show any other breaches either. Perhaps the following can explain why you're getting an alert now. We've been contacted early October by a company like LifeLock, monitoring s...

Re: install.sh only for ubuntu, debian and fedora

My bad. Deleted too many lines from the script. Amended my post above. Where you deleted the lines you should also add these lines back into the script:

Code: Select all

install='sudo apt-get -y install'
remove='sudo apt-get -y remove'
pkginst='sudo dpkg -i'
update='sudo apt-get'

No, I moved it because you asked for feedback from others that had already done the upgrade.

Re: install.sh only for ubuntu, debian and fedora

The install.sh script uses the old lsb_release command to find out which distro you're using, instead of the newer /etc/os-release file. Ideally the mininet-wifi developers change their script to use the /etc/os-release file as that includes information about both the distro being used and the distr...

"read more" goes to the 22 June 2018 article that thx-1138 linked above.

Is today's new statistics page comprised of 4 month old data?

Re: WaterFox update (Today)

Announcement found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/waterfox/comments/9pj2wu/waterfox_and_waterfoxkde_are_now_on_new_apt/ They moved to OBS repository (openSUSE's Open Build Service) and dropped support for Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux Mint 17.x) and Debian (LMDE). People who used old repo, should be automatic...

No Users in North America ?
Bit weird that. Probably somehow because of: "Location is derived from the user setting the timezone and location in the installer and not from an identifiable IP address."

it seems that this should be a pinned post or something...
The LMDE 2 support ends on 1-1-2019 topic is at the top of every LMDE 2 forum, and includes the link to that blog post.

Re: eBike users

Electric bikes are pretty common in the Netherlands, especially among parents for transporting their kids to school and among older people wanting to stay mobile. Most assist the rider's pedaling up to a maximum speed of 25 kph (15½ mph). There are also speed pedelec bikes that go up to 45 kph (28 m...

Re: Time to fork Gnome-Terminal

New terminals seem to pop up weekly. Hardly a case to be made for a Cinnamon specific fork just to add titles. Time spent on that would mean less time spent on other parts of Cinnamon, while plenty of other terminals would meet your needs. I can set terminal titles on Gnome Terminal 3.30.1 with some...

Ubuntu publish 18.04 user statistics

Ubuntu published the user statistics gathered from 18.04: https://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/statistics Some interesting tidbits. Less than 2% are using 32 bit, which doesn't come as a surprise given that support for that is waning across hardware (like Nvidia) and software (like Google Chrome) and most...

Re: Google to charge Europe

The problem with Android app bundling is that the consumer doesn't get a say or choice in what web services they get tied to, namely Google's. And the phone manufacturer also gets their hands tied as to what they can remove or replace. That doesn't compare with Linux distros. Yes, sure, there are pa...

I'm hard pressed to name people that would care about this and not have the technical know-how to follow one of the many tutorials for doing the same with a Raspberry Pi.

Re: Meet Helm, the startup taking on Gmail with a server that runs in your home

The startup is betting that people will be willing to pay $500 to purchase the box and use it for one year to host some of their most precious assets in their own home. The service will cost $100 per year after that. Holy moly, that's a lot. That $ 100 buys you a personal gateway hosted on Amazon c...

Re: Mount probleem (Aanvulling)

Re: on shutdown a number of apps are not responding

No idea why so many applications could be stuck. AT-SPI is for accessibility. Are you using anything like desktop zoom, on screen keyboard, screen reader or such? You might try disabling AT-SPI though I'm hard pressed to explain how AT-SPI could cause all those other applications you refer to get st...
