Re: Aanpassen beschrijvingen Context Menu

Re: Microsoft Edge will be based on Chromium

FF REALLY made a mistake when they dropped the old addon standard While I disagree it was a mistake to migrate Firefox to a new extension architecture (like, here we are with 16 core desktop processors becoming mainstream and you'd want to go back to a single threaded web browser? No thanks :)) it ...

Re: Microsoft Edge will be based on Chromium

And the evidence that there will be "a proprietary Chromium fork from M$" is? The Chromium project isn't free software; it's using an open source license that permits sub-licensing. Almost all the Chromium derivatives do so and are closed source. Perhaps Microsoft will surprise but reading their in...

Microsoft Edge will be based on Chromium

Microsoft today confirmed earlier rumors that Edge web browser will be based on Chromium: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/12/06/microsoft-edge-making-the-web-better-through-more-open-source-collaboration/ VentureBeat has a more detailed article with feedback from Google and Mozilla:...

Re: LTS release?

It's recommended to do a fresh install but there is a way to upgrade in place without reinstalling. As an example, see instructions for upgrading from 18.3 to 19: https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3615

Re: Why did you decide to install Linux Mint??

Linux wasn't the best option for people working in IT because it lacked some important tools like Adobe premiere and photoshop Those are tools for video and photo editing. People in creative industries may feel they can't do without those tools but I have a hard time imagining software developers a...

Re: Kilogram, ampere, kelvin and mole redefined

I loved geometry :) The classes I finished high school with were statistics/probability, applied maths (covering algebra, functions, geometry, trigonometry and calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, economy and mandatory Dutch and English. In college I had to take a year of advanced calculus and ne...

Re: Kilogram, ampere, kelvin and mole redefined

I was talking about what you may call middle school / junior high school (ages 12-14). In middle school we only had mandatory classes back then and chemistry was part of it IIRC. I got to select which classes to take in high school.

Re: no md5sum to compare

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums. That tutorial is from 7 years ago and doesn't apply to current versions of Linux Mint. We're now using SHA256 checksums. I can imagine it being frustrating. When looking at tutorials as a general rule of thumb try to find more recent ones. As noted on the page from ...

Re: Privacy vs Linux ??

Microsoft is also collecting telemetry with the purpose of improving the product, yet people go crazy about the idea, so I don't think most of those who worry about tracking ultimately care about the distinction. Meh. I don't see how the telemetry data Microsoft collects is comparable to the A/B te...

Re: Privacy vs Linux ??

I showed in another thread a little while ago that DDG uses tracking images. If you're not the customer you are the product, simple rule of thumb that's usually correct. They have to make a living somehow. Likely true for startpage.com as well for the same reason but I haven't looked at them. For a...

Re: P.A.M.E.L.A game have you tried it?

I couldn't find that promise in the FAQ . It just says: What platforms are we releasing on? We are only officially releasing on PC as of now, but we are also considering consoles, and experimenting with VR. PC equates to Windows in that. In any case, this being an early access game... But it looks v...

Re: Cinnamon 3.6.7 memory leak

Don't know but such things have been cause of high memory use in the past. Might be worth disabling them, restarting and then doing the compare on memory use again. If for no other reason than to rule them out.
