In File Manager (Nemo) click on Edit and then Preferences.
Open the second tab "Behaviour" and set your "Trash" preferences.

Re: Grub Customizer - Good or Bad.???

Never had any problems with it ... however ... It is only available via a ppa and is not by default available in the Synaptic Package Manager nor in the Software Manager but once installed will show as available and installed in these programs. If you look in the Software Manager it will state that ...

Re: SOLVED. Removing space between %a and %l in strftime

The original title of this thread was "When I use a custom date format for Clock applet, time freezes".

Why was it changed? How will it to help others looking for a solution to the stated problem?

Re: When I use custom date format for Clock applet, time freezes

Use a capital M in lieu of the lower case m.

The lower case m always shows "9" because that is the decimal indicator for the 9th month = September.

Re: Asus Netbook - Eee 1000HA

Xfce 32 bit runs fine on an Asus Eee PC 1000H - but Cinnamon, being too resource-hungry, does not.

A great little machine to meet basic needs if you are traveling but not suitable as a workhorse.

View > Toolbars > Reset (last item on the drop-down-list).

Have you tried an icon theme other than the default "Human". Try

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libreoffice-style-galaxy

Re: Power failure

In response to the question posed by Crazy Pen ; Harmful to any programs running at the time - possibly. LibreOffice, for example will instantly save what you are working on and present it on resume. So will Firefox. Some programs may not save the current state. Harmful to your hardware - no. It is ...

I have read that the graphics processor in the K52F is Intel - that means nouveau driver - no google-earth.

Re: Libre Office Writer

It pays to read the fine print :)

The method I outlined above has worked for me for the past 12 years through all the incarnations and releases of various operating systems (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint), first in OpenOffice and then in LibreOffice.

Re: Help with Google Earth

I have google-earth-pro 64bit running very well on Linux Mint 18.2 (Sonya) with nvidia graphics card and nvidia driver 384.59. Panoramio also works well. As an experiment, I installed google-earth-pro 64bit on an Asus laptop running Linux Mint 18.2 (Sonya) using the nouveau driver and my screen look...

Re: Slow start up?

Your usage looks pretty frugal. My home directory alone is larger than 40 GB. To empty the cache, open the Synaptic Package Manager, click on Settings, Preferences, Files and tick "Delete downloaded packages after installation" and then click on "Delete Cached Package Files". Cli...

Re: Printers

No worries about being patient. To connect via Wi-Fi as opposed to USB is rather more convoluted. I assume that originally someone set this up for you. There are a few things you will have to do: 1. Configure your SX420W for Wi-Fi - you do that in the Settings screen on your Epson. If that has alrea...

No sound trouble encountered with The Dark Mod, it all worked without a flaw. Great game but stealing goes against the grain with me - I am not devious enough.

Re: Slow start up?

When it takes 15 seconds for your browser to open, there is something wrong. Linux Mint Xfce will install on a 40 GB hard drive but leaves very little room for extra software installation (like PaleMoon). It may be informative to look at your disk usage with gparted and perhaps remove some superfluo...

Re: Printers

Thank you for providing the information I asked for. Forget about the Wi-Fi connection at the moment - right now the wanted connection is via USB. Since your device is not mentioned in lsusb , you do not have a patent connection between computer and printer. lsusb would list all USB devices connecte...

Re: Help with Google Earth

If you have google-earth installed, it will show up in Synaptic or the Software Manager. If you enjoy the Panoramio pictures, install google-earth-pro. There is a new completely revised version available for Windows but Linux and Mac versions will soon follow. When downloading make sure that you dow...

I don't know Counterspy but if you like stealth games try The Dark Mod. It is based on Thief, is open source and does not require Steam.
