Re: How to speed up automated suspend in linuxmint 18.1 ?

To confirm, the timer setting in dconf-editor is in seconds and it works. Tested with 15 which was too brief (for me) and tested with 60 so that suspend will activate after 1 minute of inactivity. Be aware that these shortened suspend settings do not accommodate reading long articles online. Thanks ...

Re: Virtual box not seeing USB drive

You will have to install the corresponding Extension Pack for the version of VirtualBox you have installed and also check in Users and Groups that your name and admin status is ticked.
After that USB devices will show in VirtualBox.

Re: How to speed up automated suspend in linuxmint 18.1 ?

You don't seem to have evaluated the best answer that has already been given. For example, Moem suggested making an adjustment in the Power Settings screen - open System Settings, Hardware, Power Management and under Extra options, "When the power button is pressed" select "Suspend&qu...

Re: Printer won't wake from standby

Just to let you know what is happening on my network. Epson Artisan powered on, the configuration screen for WLAN in my router (Fritz!Box) shows Epson as wi-fi connected and active and also shows the signal strength. Signal strength is also displayed on the Epson Artisan screen. All other devices (a...

Some more news here:

Interesting that the rules governing this race allow for a storage capacity of 5 kWh, so they must have a battery on board (for a fan?).

Re: World Solar Challenge

It is called "tongue in cheek" jimallyn  I doubt that many people living in the northern hemisphere would have any idea of how hot it can get here at this time of the year, especially up north? The only consolation might be that it gets cooler as you travel south and "no", ...

Re: How to speed up standby time in linuxmint 18.1 ?

I use "Suspend" whenever I am called away to attend to other activities. It is instant. Suspend ceases with a mouse movement or keyboard press. The mouse also has a switch to turn it on or off.
Caveat: watch out for the cat walking on the keyboard :)

Re: Mint 13 & exFat

1. You could remove the hard drive and temporarily install it in your new computer so that you can transfer your music collection to the new drive. 2. You could use another storage medium such as an SD card or USB stick DVD or CDs. 3. You could leave things as they are and store the old computer in ...

Hopefully these vehicles are air-conditioned? It will get pretty hot in those tiny cabins in full sun.

Re: Printer won't wake from standby

While in sleep mode, the printer does not print and all requests accumulate in the print queue. Whether or not these will print later I do not know. I suspect that the driver being downloaded and installed when setting up a Network Printer is a Network driver. This is not shown in Driver Manager. Do...

Re: Printer won't wake from standby

Well of course it won't print while the printer is in sleep mode. The message in the printer window states that the printer is "Unplugged or turned off". Touch one of the controls on your printer even if not lit up and wake it up, there is no need to turn it off and back on again. It is cu...

Re: Sandisk USB3 Ultra Fit doesn't work in USB 3 port

Several laptops, a netbook and a custom build i7.
SanDisk Ultra works in all of them.

No extra drivers needed.

What did you mean by "the drive disconnects"? If it is "unmounted", the icon for it disappears but the device is still accessible.
