Re: No sound in VLC in Mint 12

I had the same problem until I installed vlc-pulse plugin via synaptic  Such an odd issue. VLC worked just fine for me...until one day POOF audio go bye bye. z06gal posted above about vlc pulse plugin... That did the trick. My steps: Open Software Manager search VLC click on VLC Pulse Plugin ...

Is there a solution to this yet? I'm having the EXACT same issue as LarsRq.

Re: GNOME 3 in Mint 11

Welcome to the age of the tablet. I'm not sure of application developers realize that not everyone has or is even going to get a tablet. I had an etch-a-sketch when I was a kid and that's about as close to tablet pc as I feel like getting. Look at Envy and Gnome.... Now look at the new windows 8. Se...

Re: Non-Critical nVidia Software Loading Screen Strange anno

YOU are AWESOME. I used the instructions given by remoulder. Worked perfectly. Annoyance solved. It's a known problem. I had it on one laptop after installing the ATI driver. See: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/37 Read the tutorial, and read down to the comments by remoulder. Angel

Re: Non-Critical nVidia Software Loading Screen Strange anno

Thank you for the reply. That at least rules out any issues with Gnome or KDE.

Perhaps if there is a way to simply replace the loading screen with another one just like it?

Non-Critical nVidia Software Loading Screen Strange annoyanc

This isn't a major issue but it's mildly annoying and perhaps someone else has had this and fixed it. When I install the nVidia drivers after installing LinuxMin 9, everything works fine except one thing. The loading screen with the pretty LinuxMint Logo and the five lights (Even though Capt.Picard ...

Re: Need Direction / Key mapping

One more thought.... Seems like Linux is acting as though this device is just another keyboard. If the keyboard is looking at a particular file or key mapping file per say... and if Linux thinks this device is just another keyboard plugged into my machine, then it may be possible that this device is...

Re: Need Direction / Key mapping

qjoypad is a dead end. The keyboard key 1 is using key code number 10 and this is what xmodmap says about that. xmodmap -pk 10 0x0031 (1) 0x0021 (exclam) 0x0031 (1) 0x0021 (exclam) The gamepad key 1 is using key code number 87 .... 87 0xff9c (KP_End) 0xffb1 (KP_1) 0xff9c (KP_End) 0xffb1 (KP_1) so le...

Re: Need Direction / Key mapping

This is great stuff, thank you so much. I did xev, not exactly sure how to read it. here's what happens when the number 1 key is pressed on the game pad. KeyPress event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x4400001, root 0x28f, subw 0x0, time 54153694, (166,-11), root:(170,12), state 0x0, keycode 87 (k...

Re: Need Direction / Key mapping

There's Qjoypad which is a QT-based application so it should work well on Mint KDE. There isn't a package available though, so you would need to build it from the source code tarball. There's a link to the file you need to download and a description of its capabilities here: http://maketecheasier.c...

Need Direction / Key mapping

This is interesting.... For the last few years I've been using Mint. I've never EVER been able to get a game pad that I use for various games and MMO's to work. So I just use windows for gaming. Well, after trolling around Google I wanted to see if anyone made any progress. Didn't really come up wit...

Re: Helena after Gloria

Helena 'looks' beautiful. Unfortunately I'll be going back to Gloria. With every Linux mint distribution I've ever used, everything on my laptop worked right out of the box. I never had to go fumbling through a million google results and ubuntu forums to try to fix anything. In Helena however, my so...

SOLVED: SanDisk SD Card - Unable to mount location

The output from fdisk which you posted above shows that the 4GB SD card does not have a valid partition or filesystem on it. Create a new partition on it and add a filessytem and you should be good to go. Thank you for a straight answer. From this I had to wonder how then could I format it, if Linu...

Thank you however this didn't help. I looked at this thread earlier and tried the steps listed before posting. Insert the card, wait a few seconds and run the command "sudo fdisk -l" and show us the output. SanDisk SD Card - Unable to mount location

I have an HP 6320 Laptop with built in SD card reader "SD MS/Pro MMC SM XD" In Mint 6 it worked out of the box no issues. I plug any SD card in the slot and poof, I have a new drive on my desktop that I can pull pictures off of. In Mint 7 however not so much. When I hope "Computer" it shows my CD Ro...
