Grati.fi funding proposal: distro-bundled funding software

This is a currently theoretical thing (not invented by me): http://grati.fi/dokuwiki/doku.php https://github.com/gratifi/grati.fi What do you think about the viability of such a system? Could Linux Mint adopt it? On GNU/Linux distributions The gratifi -software will come bundled in any GNU/Linux dis...

I suspect 32bit anything would be equally successful!

Yes, I suspected that a complete reinstall of Mint might have solved it, but wanted to try a rolling distro for her!
Thanks for all the patience and help.

Re: Linux Mint 17 32-bit and Canon LBP7018C Communication er

so when I google on parport0: FIFO is stuck I get threads such as these http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1484922 and from post #3 in the above thread, the command dmesg | grep lp0 do you generate the above readout? I get this: [ 17.804400] lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven). [ 3032.4704...

Re: Linux Mint 17 32-bit and Canon LBP7018C Communication er

Ok I finally got around to readding the printer with proper port. Btw. with lpadmin the -E option forces encryption when connecting to the server ccpdadmin now shows: CUPS_ConfigPath = /etc/cups/ LOG Path = None UI Port = 59787 Entry Num : Spooler : Backend : FIFO path : Device Path : Status -------...

3) Register the printer (PPD) with the print spooler.............here the ubuntu wiki has what some say is the wrong number (59687).......most recommend 59787 ... so the command would be sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP7018C -m CNCUPSLBP7018CCAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59787 –E Hey, I think this migh...

Linux Mint 17 32-bit and Canon LBP7018C Communication error

Trying to get my neighbor's printer working on LM 17 KDE 32-bit. Driver version 2.60 installed with these instructions . On the surface, everything seems to be fine, cups and all, but jobs won't print and captstatusui says "Communication Error". - service ccpd status shows two numbers - to...

Re: [Unsolveable in 64bit] 64-bit Mint 13 KDE and Canon LBP7

I got one confirmation from another forum that even the 2.56 driver does not work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit and Canon LBP7018C. I wonder, if it works on pure Debian.

Re: [Unsolveable in 64bit] 64-bit Mint 13 KDE and Canon LBP7

Canon has just released v.2.56 of their driver, which includes a 64-bit .deb: http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search ... g_os=Linux

The readme says it has been tested on 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04.

Can anyone test?

Re: Upstream X/Wayland Developers Bash Canonical

Well Daniel Stone shed some light on the situation: The background to this is that he was deeply personally abusive to most people he ever interacted with, calling us rainbows idiots, assholes, telling us he didn't care about us or have time for our unicorns, etc. This included during the review pr...

Whoa.. well at least it's a friendly fork!

Btw. I'm still in some discussions re: crowdfunding.. not sure it will lead to anything, but we can hope.

Re: Upstream X/Wayland Developers Bash Canonical

Guys, if you really think Wayland should do a kickstarter, why not suggest it to the wayland devs themselves... I have already done it. Currently waiting what X.Org board thinks about it. The hard thing is to find capable developers. Collabora, a private company, has paid developers to work on Wayl...

Re: Upstream X/Wayland Developers Bash Canonical

I don't know. Wayland is already open source, usually crowdsourcing campaigns offer some kind of rewards for contributions. What could the wayland project offer as rewards other than "we'll maybe get wayland finished faster"? I would highlight the word "usually". What do you thi...

Re: Upstream X/Wayland Developers Bash Canonical

I was just thinking today that there should be a Kickstarter to boost Wayland development, like a joint marketing effort with Mint and other distros and various parties spreading the word! Now, here is an idea! :) I will contact X.Org Foundation and Collabora to ask, if they could organize such a c...

A new Debian-based distribution (brainstorming by M. Klumpp)

From the developer of listaller (brainstorming session with Dantti ): http://blog.tenstral.net/2013/03/a-new-debian-based-distribution.html Here is a list of points which would define such a project: Every available package complies with the DFSG and Debian policy. Packages of DISTRO stay in close s...

Re: Upstream X/Wayland Developers Bash Canonical

Seriously, am thinking, can Mint start a Kickstarter campain and ramp up their team to deal and support with all the changes that're happening around. Am not against *buntu or anything, just that I want Mint to stand on its own. Really. I was just thinking today that there should be a Kickstarter t...
