Re: AMD GPU doesn't work properly with 4K monitor

@roblm I apologize for not being clear. I meant that with amdgpu 18, everything works fine except MST/Tile. With amdgpu 19, Cinnamon crashes to software mode. System: Host: red Kernel: 5.2.0-050200rc7-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 8.3.0 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.2.3 Distro: Linux Mint 19.2 Tina...

Re: AMD GPU doesn't work properly with 4K monitor

Hardware rendering works fine. Tile support does not work because of two bugs in Cinnamon: Cinnamon-desktop issue #129: Cinnamon crashes with xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu on MST display Muffin issue #532: xrandr --setmonitor causes segfault in libmuffin.so Until the issues are fixed, I am looking for a...

Re: AMD GPU doesn't work properly with 4K monitor

@roblm although I am unsure about mesa specifically, when I upgraded amdgpu from ppa:oibaf , it did automatically upgrade a dozen or so related packages. I can't be sure at the moment because I used a backup of my system to downgrade amdgpu to version 18, since downgrading in synaptic is not possibl...

Re: AMD GPU doesn't work properly with 4K monitor

Yes I'm actually running Linux Mint 19.2. But due to bleeding edge hardware I need to run Kernel 5.2 (unofficial), and for TILE support I need to run amdgpu 19.0.1 (unofficial), and with these, Cinnamon crashes: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-desktop/issues/129 However, I can't believe this v...

Re: AMD GPU doesn't work properly with 4K monitor

Hi @Nomin, did you figure out how to solve this? I have a Dell UP2414Q too. You see two half screens because this monitor requires two streams over one cable using Multi-Stream Transport (MST). By default, Linux thinks you're sending two streams to two monitors. When I had an nVidia video card, I wo...

Re: Not booting from live USB

I'm having a different mainboard but also AMD Ryzen 5. I needed to press F8 rapidly, and a wild menu appeared. In the last screen I could "override boot option" and choose the USB drive. Note 1: The USB wouldn't show up until I powered the device off, unplugged the power, inserted the USB ...

Re: Mint 19 - No information (logs) during boot

It happened again today. Forgot battery cable was unplugged. Laptop shut down. No more boot. Steps to make bootable to GUI again: Boot using Live USB Set display resolution to half (Live USB fails to detect High DPI screen) Open Terminal sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p5 /mnt sudo mv /mnt/etc/resolv.conf{,_...

Mint 19 - No information (logs) during boot

This release, while booting very fast when it works, seems to be very sensitive to things that break the boot process. I have had to restore a timeshift recovery point a dozen or so times already. And it's important to point out that this happens for the silliest of things, like my laptop running ou...

Re: LM 19 Tara boots 30 seconds slower than LM 18

It was a misconfigured resume partition! (Important: This happened on a fresh install, so something is probably broken on the installer.) When I removed the UUID from /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume so that the file reads RESUME=none and updated initramfs by running: sudo update-initramfs -u , th...

LM 19 Tara boots 30 seconds slower than LM 18

Did a clean install on my Lenovo X1 Yoga laptop. Full disclosure: It's dual-boot with Windows 10. I notice the boot is a lot slower, so I checked syslog : kernel: [ 0.000000] microcode: microcode updated early to revision 0x84, date = 2018-01-21 kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version 4.15.0-23-generic (b...

Re: How To install Epson Scanner Drivers

Epson released all brand new Linux drivers for their printers and Scanners about March 25th give or take a day or so. Here is the list of the printers it covers. http://www.openprinting.org/driver/epson-escpr Thank you for the heads up! Meanwhile, I bought a cheap Samsung black and white laser prin...

Re: Firefox 57.0.1 update broke touch screen

and the touchpad is working again? Did it quit working ONLY in FF? I can't imagine anything in FF would affect it. What do you mean "working again"? The touchpad and the touch screen have always worked. The touch screen is still not working as expected in Firefox. It works fine in Chrome.

Firefox 57.0.1 update broke touch screen

For the first time in my live, I started to actually use Firefox. With 57.0 the speed appealed to me. I did have to run the famous env MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 firefox %u in order to enable touch support, but it worked fine. Now, not 5 days later, with Firefox 57.0.1, that's no longer working. I don't know...

CASE CLOSED :D
I would really really like to know what file changes when you flip `HiDPI` support from `Auto` to `Enable`, so I can automate this.

Any clue?

This place. self.Symphaties.Clear(); In Mint 17 I had issues with my video card when attaching two monitors. Should I roll back to Linux Mint 13 (LTS) in stead of upgrading to 18? Of course not. As a developer it's always a battle between having up-to-date packages, and wanting LTS so you ...

It's a gift from God

I have 2 computers and 3 bluetooth headsets. My life was good in the 18 months that I used Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon. That is until I migrated to Linux Mint 18. In the past few months I have experienced that - for some reason that probably nobody can explain - I can't seem to pair my headsets, or I onl...

Disable or reset Display Settings

I have a specialistic configuration in xorg.conf for nVidia TwinView to get a 60 Hz Multi-Stream Transport (MST) onto my Dell UP2414Q UHD monitor. However, on login, everything gets totally messed up. The left and right part of the screen are swapped, and they both pan a little bit to accommodate fo...

I can't find this specific problem, so I've created a bug on Github.

If this affects you too, please post your specs there:

Screen freezes randomly after upgrade to 17.3

I upgraded Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.2 to 17.3 the other day in the hopes of fixing the bug where network shares (which I use a lot) don't remember the passwords anymore, even if I tick the box. I also upgraded the kernel to the recommended version. However, now my Lenovo X1 Carbon (2013) laptop screen...

Cinnamon, and I don't know if I have blueman installed.

I know that on every other computer with Mint Cinnamon, everything works out of the box, so at least I have blue-something installed.
