Re: Minimising to Panel bar
Ok. It's always better if you give more pertinent information. In this case, what version of Mint you are running (Mint9, Mint 10, Gnome, XFCE, etc.) Sometimes problems show up on one and not the other, and then people might be able to help better. Someone may have a specific solution for that versi...

Re: Minimising to Panel bar
Seems like you have lost or deleted the window list. Right-click on the panel on the area where your minimized windows were showing before. From the drop-down, click on "add to panel." Scroll down the list and select "window list." Your minimized windows will show there.

Re: Help with default keyring
I there is no password set for the keyring: Since I'm the only user on my laptop, I simply leave the password blank and click "enter." This will bring up a warning about unsafe storage. I ignore it and click "ok," and never see the keyring pop-up again. The keyring pop-up comes u...

Re: Not hibernating
Don't know if this will help, but you can check to make sure swap is on in the HDD partition. Boot up your live CD and open GParted. Select and right-click on the HDD swap partition. If you read "swapon" on the dropdown, swap is not enabled. Click ob "swapon" to enable it.

Re: Is there some sort of download manager in Linux Mint
You can try the Firefox add-on "DownThemAll!." It will pause and resume, optimize download speed, and handle multiple downloads. I find it excellent.
Edit: Before installing this add-on, I would switch to Opera for any major downloads. Opera download manager is better.

Re: Adding Windows to Grub
I've read about certain WIndows 7 apps, especially recovery tools by the PC makers, (like Dell DataSafe) either trying to restore the MBR or writing to a section which will trash Grub. Some info here: http://www.pctechs.org/?p=34264 With XP, I've had no problems. I still have the original OEM instal...

Re: Webpage Weirdness In Chrome
Problem seems to have come with with the latest update. I was browsing the forum, saw this post, and tried the website. It loaded fine. But I was doing updates at the same time. Tried the page again after the updating to Chrome 7.0.517.41, and it disappeared.

Re: Adding Windows to Grub
@cwsnyder,
Can you explain what you mean a little better? I dual-boot Linux and Windows 7 on two laptops, and I have no problems with Grub 2. Grub 2 is installed to the MBR, and no need to touch the small WIndows 7 system partition or replace it with Grub.

Re: A question concerning setting up a system to triple boot
OS X runs on Apple hardware. Unless you are on a Mac, you are not going to get OS X to run unless you have a cracked version and have the proper set-up. If you are installing a cracked OS X, you are better off getting information from hackers who engage in that. You can try google, but I doubt you w...

Re: USB Ports in VirtualBox for Mint 9
I downloaded, and installed VirtualBox 3.28 AMD64 twice in the last two weeks from the Oracle website. Guest additions does not need to be downloaded separately. It is in the .deb package. All I had to do was to start XP, select "Install Guest Additions" from the drop-down menu under "...

Do you have Compiz enabled? (visual effects) If you do, open Control Center. Under "Look and Feel," click on Simple CompizConfig Settings>Desktop. Change the number of workspaces and rows there. If you want a workplace switcher on your panel, right-click on panel, add to panel, and add a w...

Re: Trouble installing Mint 9 KDE
If you are using Mint 9 Gnome, you can use: Menu>Administration> Startup Disk Creator. Or you can install unetbootin using synaptic. Either program will let you create a bootable USB stick.

Maybe it will help if i post my sources.list, which works fine. The first five lines are as when first installed. Re: Which virtual machine software is best fit with linux mi
VirtualBox is easy to install and easy to use. You can install from the repos using Synaptic, or you can go to the website and download the proper latest version. For Mint 9 it would be the one for Ubuntu 10.04, i386 or AMD64 depending on what system you are running. http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/D...

Zubcho,
You are adding to an old thread, long closed. Better to start your own thread and ask your question in the proper section, or no one may find you here..

I don't know how "genital" I can be with a total stranger, but you are posting in the newbie section, and what you ask is not a newbie question. If what you want is to disable and enable the touchpad for your user session, "sudo" is not needed. If what you want is to run co...

Not my field of expertise, but just doing a quick google got me a bunch of people having different errors on Cairo Dock, and it seems to involve GLX 1.3. Also came across this: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/04/xorg-memory-leak-bug-in-ubuntu-1004-fix.html You might try Google: "ubuntu 10.04 cairo ...
