Thanks for the quick reply!

Here's the output:

Code: Select all

(the only file in that directory is CountryInformation.pyc)

Software sources not opening after last update

I'm using Linux Mint 17 Xfce 32-bit. Today after a huge update i can't open the "software sources" anymore. If i'm trying it in the Update Manager, there's simply nothing happening when i click on the menu item. So i tried in the Software Manager, and there it crashes the Software Manager. I tried f...

Good to hear Mousepad is working for you. :-)

I'd like to keep using Gedit, especially for html and css. Can anyone help me?

Files associated with gedit don't load from Thunar or deskto

LM13 XFCE with Gedit 3.4.1

Annoying problem. Files that are associated with Gedit don't load from Thunar or desktop. Only when i doubleclick a second time, Gedit starts and the file loads. I tried removing then installing back Gedit but problem persists.

Re: Launching from desktop: window has no focus

I've tried your method but still no focus when mouse is not over it.

Weird that nobody has mentioned this before. Looks like a bug to me (but i'm no techie  ).

Re: Launching from desktop: window has no focus

Not really what i had in mind but thanks for the reply anyway. What i'd like to have is the window having focus without even touching the mouse. For example: i wanna type in the calculator just after launching it from the desktop.

Launching from desktop: window has no focus

Been looking around for this one but found nothing. When launching an app from the desktop (contrary to the menu or the panel) the opened window is not focused. Any way to resolve this small but annoying problem?

Re: Mint 13 XFCE

Mint 13 XFCE is the best Linux distro i've seen so far! And i've tried quite a few. This should be the main edition imo.

Is this release as newbie-friendly as Linux Mint 10 with Gnome2? Well, except for the fact it's still a RC...

(Minimum) hardware requirements for Mate and Cinnamon.

Rather a newbie and non-techie, so i post my question here. I'm still using Gnome 2 for now, but soon it will be outdated. Been looking around for hardware requirements for MATE and Cinnamon, but found nothing. Any info on it for the Ubuntu-based version?

Re: Mint 13 XFCE

Right now i'm still using Mint 10. When i'm gonna upgrade in spring i'm hesitating between the main Mint 13 with Cinnamon or LMDE with XFCE. If an Ubuntu-based XFCE distro would exist, that would be my choice for sure!

Re: Linux Mint LXDE 10 slow

Thanks again for your reply! (i'm a newbie really) I already have the patched driver version (version 19) installed apparently. Still don't really know what to do. Since upgrading the kernel is risky, i wonder perhaps i could install Linux Mint LXDE11 RC2? Isn't this also kind of a kernel upgrade (o...

Re: Linux Mint LXDE 10 slow

Ok, i read the report. For me as a newbie it's very confusing. I suppose i have to downgrade X.Org? If so: how do i do that? Or is there any fix to this bug?

Or is there no solution (yet)? Should i try another distro or Mint flavor then? If so, any recommendations?

Linux Mint LXDE 10 slow

I have an old AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz with 512 MB RAM. Installed Mint LXDE 10, but it's it's very slow. So i updated the video driver (NVIDIA) which kinda made things a tiny little more responsive. But overall it's still very slow. So what do you guys recommend? I ran next command in a terminal: ls /etc/...

Dissatisfied Windows user

Hi all. Let me tell you how i started using Linux Mint. For several years i've been dissatisfied with MS Windows. The last version i installed was Windows XP, probably the best (or should i say least problematic) Windows version MS had to offer - ever. With the upcoming of the horrible Vista i decid...
