[SOLVED] LMDE LiveUSB/LiveDVD Wont Run On Lenovo T61P

Today I decided to try out Linux Mint Debian Edition, so I created a live usb and restarted my Lenovo T61P with the usb attached. Halfway through booting I get myself a white & black "layered" screen that's stuck. After doing the REISUB, I tried booting on compatibility mode and it's the same thing....

Re: LM9: minor problem when running fsck at boot

I came to forum to post about this same issue, a couple days ago, first time this happened on my Dell Vostro Desktop, I ran a disk check using an alternate program and there were no errors then I decided to reinstall the entire system. Tonight, It's the same issue, pressing C to cancel does nothing.

Re: "Open as root" missing from Nautilus Context Menu

That's what I'm doing, but I can't figure how the option could be missing from the menu, I didn't make any significant changes other than moving some files around.

"Open as root" missing from Nautilus Context Menu

I was just in nautilus and wanting to open up a folder as root, but when I right clicked on the folder, I noticed that the "open as root" option is missing. I just installed LM 8 on my system yesterday, and I used the "open as root" option yesterday as well, but today it's not showing on the context...

Re: VirtualBox OSE

drapsjap, First I would suggest you use the non-free version of VirtualBox. If you will follow the instructions below, the first half of your problem should be solved. Open a terminal and type in each line of code and hit enter, (copy & paste avoids typos): Sets root privileges sudo su Removes rema...

Re: Internet connection sharing (ICS) on windows mobile6 devices

This looks too simple to be true :) Yessir, Indeed, but it works! Man, I just stumbled on this thread so I decided to try it out...and less than two minutes later I was using my data connection to get on the web! I used to do it all the time when back when I was on WinXP, but somehow I didn't think...

Re: Problems beaming files via Bluetooth frm WM6 Phone to Laptop

Thank Husse. I figured out what the problem was though...while I was looking at a Bluetooth search thru Synaptic, I found the "Bluetooth File Sharing" package. I installed it, ran it, and then incoming transfers from Bluetooth started working like a charm. So it looks like you can't receive transfer...

[SOLVED] Prob. beaming files via Bluetooth frm WM6 to Laptop

I got this issue where I can't transfer files via Bluetooth from my Windows Mobile 6 phone to my Elyssa Laptop. I can successfully transfer files from the Laptop to the Phone however, as well as being able to transfer to/from phone successfully previously with Daryna. At first I thought it was a pro...

Re: Cannot Play Multiple Sound Sources

I'm having an issue playing multiple sounds. If I have Skype open I cannot play music or listen to any sort of videos in Youtube, but if I start listening to YouTube videos I can't initiate a Skype chat. I'm using ALSA drivers and I made sure Skype is using ALSA drivers, and I've followed the guide...

Re: Can't Play Two Audio Sources At Once...

It took me a while to reply back but (I think) I realized what my problem was...I needed to set the audio output of every audio, video, etc. application to PulseAudio instead of ALSA. It seems like problem solved.

Can't Play Two Audio Sources At Once...

I have an issue with the audio playback in LM 5, I can't seem to be able to have two different audio sources play simultaneously. Like if I have a YouTube video playing, I can't get an audio track to play on Audacious until I browse away from YouTube. Similarly, if I'm playing a video on MPlayer, no...

Re: Considerations before you install

Fred, I got myself a good learnin from that last post. I installed a nice bunch of different applications since I did the reinstall and the /opt partition didn't get touch one time, so I'll just leave that alone from now on. Other than that, I will utilize this thread again and that last post when I...

Re: Considerations before you install

Now let me ask, If I already plan on creating a separate /usr, /opt, /var, and /home partition, how big (or small) does the root partition need to be? I'm thinking about re-installing Daryna for now, and I'm looking at my current partition and wondering since I got all these separate partitions, doe...

Re: Considerations before you install

Hey There Fred, thanks for the feedback man. I took heed to what you said about the swap partition...and since I had 4GB of memory in the system, I figured just to make the swap as small as possible; I was turning the swappiness off anyway. As far as the size of the partitions go, I'm studying audio...

Re: Considerations before you install

Hey Fred, I remembered you saved me from a near disaster a few months back, lol. I wanted to install and check out the LM 5 Beta. So I decided to look at the board to see if I can find any tips on re-partitioning my HD, and I'm glad I stumbled onto this post before I got started with my first Linux ...

Re: Youtube fullscreen and Mint

I have this same problem...although I noticed that certain videos will stay on fullscreen, while others, like geirergory said, will go fullscreen and then close after a second. I think it might have something to do with compiz, cause when I decided to turn the compiz effects off to see if the full s...

Re: WallWatcher-Like Program For Linux?

Have you had a look to Wine-doors. perhaps you could install and run wallwatcher in Linux Mint. Well, I did some looking up about Wine and after much trial and error, I was able to get WallWatcher working thru Wine in Linux Mint, and so far it seems to be fully functional; only problems is having t...

WallWatcher-Like Program For Linux?

http://www.wallwatcher1.com/downloads/SampleScreen5.gif When I was using Windows XP, I used a program called WallWatcher to analyze everything going in and out of my router. Now I'm a proud user of Linux Mint who has knocked Windows XP right off the cliff, but this is the one program I can't find a...

Re: HELP PLEASE!!! I can't boot onto my Linux Mint!

GuttaMan, Isn't life grand! Ok poke around and make sure everything seems to be working ok. Make sure you still have access to your ntfs partitions, both read and write. Also check and make sure you can boot into both of your Windows partitions from the boot screen, like they are suppose to. If all...
