[SOLVED] Live Image Creation?

I've been a user of Linux for a while now, but still don't know so many of the deeper workings - or even some of the the basic LINUX concepts. Today, I found another hole in my knowledge. I had downloaded the LMDE4 ISO when it became available a few months back, and made a LiveUSB to install it from...

Re: A question of Quote(s) in Nemo Action

Thanks, Smurphos!! That was it! So, that would mean every match of %F is passed as an argument - all at the same time in a single call of the script?! Meaning...if I had selected 1200 folders/files to run the action on, that %F passes add_to_playlist.sh 1200 (full file path) arguments in one giant i...

Re: A question of Quote(s) in Nemo Action

Hi Smurphos, Thanks for putting the time into this. Indeed, your fix solves the primary problem, and helped me with a point of confusion (how to interact with a script from within an action). However...while this works perfectly for a single parent folder or single individual files - it fails to all...

Re: A question of Quote(s) in Nemo Action

Thanks Smurphos, I had tried that before - but not with the deletion of EscapeSpaces. I was surprised that the results were different without the EscapeSpaces=true line! Thank you very much for the suggestion!! So - the great news is that it your suggestion totally fixed the issue with ampersands. T...

Re: A question of Quote(s) in Nemo Action

Thanks for the ideas, Kadaitcha Man! Unfortunately, the line as provided Exec=bash -c "find %F -type f -print -name .mp3 | sort > /tmp/Playlist.m3u; celluloid /tmp/Playlist.m3u" Produces two issues: 1. If the top folder contains an ampersand, then the action creates an empty playlist.m3u. 2. If the ...

Re: Show me your aliases and i'll show you mine ;-)

It is common for the ~/.bashrc script to source the ~/.bash_aliases file. The ~/.bash_aliases file should contain user specific aliases. The alias command is a builtin bash command. As long you are using bash as your shell, the alias command will display your bash aliases. Thanks, deck_luck! I lear...

A question of Quote(s) in Nemo Action [SOLVED]

I've run into a persistent problem with a previously posted Nemo Action. The problem is that, while the action works wonderfully most of the time - if a folder name or file name contains an ampersand, then it is omitted from the playlist (in the case of a file) or causes the nemo action to break (in...

Re: Show me your aliases and i'll show you mine ;-)

That may be a wise answer in a professional context, but we're on the Mint forum and thus talking about domestic usage aren't we ? I utilize many computers, so count me in with the folks who would rather remember or otherwise document syntax/options. Since we're talking about Mint in general...

Re: Script

I'm not 100% certain I understand what you're looking for, but would something like this work for you? #!/bin/bash echo -n "Har file location: " read HARLocation grep 'url:' "$HARLocation" (There's no error checking included in the above, and there probably should be - also, there's no loop or catch...

Re: Is there a "Better" way to do these two scripts?

Thanks Flemur, Yeah - I've been axed by Facebook before too. Don't even know why. Don't care too much, but had a few contacts I needed to follow up with, so created a new account...and here we are. ;^)>>> Just a few quick side notes about the scripts - they each need external programs to accomplish ...

Re: Is there a "Better" way to do these two scripts?

Flemur, Thanks for the reply, but perhaps we're seeing different things. For example...here's how the URLs show up when copied from Facebook: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2FCMXxq0a4te4M%3Ffbclid.... Here's an example of how the twitter video URLs show up (which only take me ...

Is there a "Better" way to do these two scripts?

I have written two nemo scripts that save me steps to either clean an URL, and discover the URL and take me where I want to go. I'm not great at bash scripting, but would like to become better. I'm submitting the following two scripts to ask if there is a "better" way to script them (combining steps...

Re: Right-click context menu / firefox / web browser?

erginemr, That's what I sorta figured...but I'm constantly surprised by the ins and outs of linux, so I thought I'd throw the question out there. Having recently discovered the nemo scripts and actions, I was hopeful! Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll go ahead and mark this as "solved." Fu...

[SOLVED] Right-click context menu / firefox / web browser?

I'd like to create a script that I could launch via right-click on an hyperlink in firefox. (Sort of like how the "copy link location" option shows up only while in Firefox/web browsers, and only when right-clicking on an hyperlink). Is this something which can be done via simple script, or does a p...

Re: [SOLVED] Nemo script and/or action

Gigantic facepalm. I just stumbled across my problem, even though I don't want to admit it. (I don't want to assume this was your problem, Smurphos...but I just discovered that it's mine.) My problem is that I was sometimes (without even thinking) selecting OPEN WITH celluloid, instead of goiing dow...

Re: [SOLVED] Nemo script and/or action

Well bizarrely the original is working OK for me with multiple directories now. I'm on Mint 19.3. Hmmm. That's really odd. Tonight, I had one folder not filter properly again. I don't see anything wrong with the nemo_action "script" - so I'm curious whether this could be a bug with the nemo_action ...

Re: [SOLVED] Nemo script and/or action

Smurphos - quick observation and question... I haven't had any further problems with the action as posted. (Not sure why it had a hiccup that one day for me...but all other days have worked as expected). That made me wonder if the issue you noticed could be with distro dependent? I'm using LMDE4...a...

Re: [SOLVED] Nemo script and/or action

Hi Smurphos! Thanks for taking a look at it. I had noticed some odd behavior with the nemo_action today myself. I'm not convinced that the problem is with multiple folders/files as much as I'm concerned that it isn't escaping certain characters correctly. For instance, for a good portion of the day,...
