Re: Different in Mint Vs. Debian brightness control?

Thanks for the reply. I did not fully realize that debian stable used such an old kernel, that may be the problem I was having. Oh well, I read that 2014 lmde is almost ready so I will happily play with that instead.

Re: Mint as Virtualbox Guest

Thanks for the replies. I ended up trying LMDE and it works great. Not sure what I did differently, or if it's something different with the Debian base, but it works exactly how I wanted it to. So if you are having problems, give the Mint Debian a shot.

Re: Grub

Thanks for the reply, I know that that grub is not maintained or worked on by the linux mint crew. I guess its just not a big enough problem to worry about. I was just frustrated a while back by my lack of ability to use a usb keyboard with that particular version of grub. Hopefully by the time the ...

Currently I'm not able to use the latest release of mint due to the fact that i dual boot, and since the latest release uses the newest grub, my usb keyboard is not recognized until after an OS is...

Re: Mint Debian

I know at this point Mint based off Debian is just something some people are kicking around, but I was curious to know if the project did gain traction and Mint did switch bases would Mint still offer things like restricted drivers and programs like firefox through its own repos? I built a Debian XF...

Kernel Exploit

Not sure where to post this, or if this has been posted already, but read this and thought it I may as well post it to let people know its out there.
According to the article it seems to be a pretty impressive one that can bypass SElinux and apparmor

Re: running Mint on an Acer One with a 160gb HD

I don't have an Acer One, but I do have the dell mini 9. I am not sure how well Mint will run on a netbook, but if you are looking for a good ubuntu based distro for a netbook I would recommend checking out crunchbang linux. I have it running on my mini 9 and it runs great. It uses openbox so its a ...
