Chocolate Mint - An educational approach

My head is bursting with new ideas today! I just came with this idea of releasing a Mint Edition that is focused for kids, filled with educational software and some games. This has already been discussed before here , but the topic never received much attention. I believe Mint should look to this fo...

Re: Discuss ways to promote Mint here

How about we use the power of creative commons distributed media to our benefit? In a 15 minutes search I found some nice images that could be used for many purposes, like wallpapers and smart ads. I know it goes completely against the proposed by Zwopper, using the Dew theme as a base for ads, but ...

Re: Buttons, Banners and other Graphic Resources

ahhh double post! But I needed to tell you! I did it! I got the banner the way I wanted to! Now I can change everything in it, the color of the logo, the color of the background, the text! It's just a matter of asking for the colors (like a pale grey or a blue KDE style)! :D Also, the banner no long...

Buttons, Banners and other Graphic Resources

Just to properly open a thread to exchange and propose graphic material to promote Linux Mint. I believe this topic can be used in a really open manner, as a place to propose new wallpapers, buttons, webpage buttons, banners, stickers, t-shirts, mugs, and every little kind of thing you can imagine t...

Re: a button project

There is no "real" official font, the closest we've got is this ! BTW, I'm also game for anything graphical or text wise - just toss out ideas if you've got them. And not to toot my own horn here, but it would probably be nice to base the promotional material for Gloria on Mint Dew, to keep the loo...

a button project

I just finished messing around with a little idea I had, while I wait for the exam schedule. Its a 80x15 button, in fact, more of a project, since I need to spend more time looking at it to see if I can improve things a little bit. It is attached mint_button.png Also! I need to ask Clem, what is the...

Re: Promotional material

For some time my laptop has been "tattooed" with a big Linux Mint Sticker I had made with a good quality PNG file I found hanging around the site. It's simple, has the logo, the name and the tagline "from freedom came elegance". I didn't get the care to trim everything to look xtra nice, but still i...

MintUpdate 3.7.6 bug

I just got a fresh install from Mint 7 RC1, and got everything updated, through the Synaptics, since I also perform some tweaking and cleaning useless packages. Those updates set me up to the MintSystem 7.4.6 and MintUpdate 3.7.6 Now, I can't seen to use the MintUpdate tool. The process is similar t...

Bugs on Jaunty to watch for on Gloria

Last week my GDM from a Mint 6 Felicia install disagreed in some points and he decided to punish me, but not turning on properly. That however gave me an opportunity to give it a go and test the newest, freshest, quickest Ubuntu release of the moment, the Jaunty Jackalope . I have to say the the exp...

Re: Xine\VLC locks up my Elyssa

Hi once more, How hard will you kick me all the way from Sweden if I tell you that everything there is in the Section "Device" of xorg.conf is: Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" EndSection ??? However, I did a " modprobe -l | grep i810 " and got this: /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-gener...

Xine\VLC locks up my Elyssa

One day I'll be famous for just bringing problems and no solution to this forum. I'm quite a newbie in Linux and I'm facing a multimedia problem. And simply put: it all started with a MP3 , a remix a friend of mine made and asked for my opinion. Now, don't get me wrong, I know I should be using rhyt...

Re: Toshiba Sattelite 1805 S274 Screen

Sorry for the laziness in answering it, had quite a time with college essays last weeks.

Thanks for the help, it did work!
Even further I used the same thing to make my Acer work with a digital presentation hardware and two different resolutions. :)

Best regards to you,
Felipe Sentelhas

Toshiba Sattelite 1805 S274 Screen

Now here is something I finally gave up looking for a solution myself. I had a quite old Toshiba Sattelite 1805 S274 laptop laying around, unused and disregarded due to performance issues with Windows XP. About 3 months ago I decided to give it a try with the Linux Mint 4 Daryna , it worked like a c...
