You know he could switch his mind set to helping people learn linux and charge them for that instead of keep fixing the same problems over and over again on Windows systems.
What a better world we would have.

Re: Combining Cinnamon and XFCE
Thanks Moem I was just trying to address an issue of using multiple DE. That is where i say the topic changing to at some point in the discussion. I have done that with KDE and XFCE and it got a little confusing with all the duplicate packages that each DE comes with. Just was going to be a word of ...

Re: Changing from Cinnamon to XFCE
You are correct they will run no matter what DE you choose. I was mostly coming from the fact the you might see or have multiple entries in your menu just a visual point of view. You could always modify the menu so you know which one you are clicking on like: File Manager - XFCE File Manager - Cinna...

Combining Cinnamon and XFCE
Sorry for jumping in here.
I may have missed it but isn't the problem with doing this you might have duplicate packages that do the same thing in your menu choices.
Like a file manager for cinnamon and xfce?
Won't your menus show duplicate packages no matter what DE you pick at login?

Re: How to use a different Wallpaper Manager on MATE? (Like Nitrogen)
I am using Variety with MATE but what I want to do is have different wallpapers rotating on each Monitor. Right now the same wallpaper shows up on both monitors.
When the wallpaper changer was broke I was able to use feh and crontab with a script file to do this.

[SOLVED] Using a system variable in Startup Applications
I have a script that I want to startup when I log in. I want to put the command in the Startup Applications menu. The command would be something like this: either $HOME/somescript.sh or /home/$USER/somescript.sh So far I cannot get this to work. I don't know the proper syntax. It works when I go to ...

Re: LMDE - KDE - What now
Well you both bring up some good points. I started down LMDE due to the "rolling release" somewhat cutting edge "Testing" repos. It seems that Main Mint release is more cutting edge than LMDE "rolling". Maybe I still don't understand the concepts. LMDE is stable. But I ...

Re: LMDE - KDE - What now
That is what I am running now.
However new KDE updates like going to 4.10 is in limbo for LMDE KDE is what I was referring to.
It might be a while for an "eventual" release.

LMDE - KDE - What now
I read the post by Clem on the future of LMDE KDE. Doesn't look very promising to me that this will be kept up with. Is there a way to find out how many of us that are using this are out here. I am curious what all of you are going to do. KDE is my favorite and LMDE is also my favorite either in Tes...

Re: Simple question = Not at all a simple answer...
I had to comment on this. Here is my spin on your subject. Linux (Mint or otherwise) is like a maze. You don't know where the exit is so you start wondering though the maze crashing into walls that lead you nowhere, sometimes ending up back where you started. Eventually you will make it down the rig...

Re: Think some hardware might have died
I have to leave right now but you should be able to hit del or esc. keep tapping one of those keys as it is starting up and it should take you to the bios screen before it finishes trying to boot. If you can't do that you may have a memory or chipset issue. Generally if you did the computer would be...

Check your bios settings boot options to see if it is set to boot to CD.
