Re: "if" logic - please help

Or without any "if": for count in 1 2 3 4 do [ $count -ne 3 ] && echo $count done ... the power of the shell :) or for count in 1 2 3 4 do [ $count -eq 3 ] || echo $count done or for count in 1 2 3 4 do [ $count == 3 ] || echo $count done or (at least in BASH) for count in {1..4} ...

myPartition=/dev$(ls -l /dev/disk/by-label/"$myLabel" | grep -o '/[^/]*$') Yes that would surely be better. But for now the quick fix will do. Thanx for your code, I will probably use it later. I feel really unhappy when I create such messy code... So better change the above line to myPar...

Re: Upgrade Warnings: LMDE tracking TESTING [13-06-13]

New kernel now automounts external disks in /media/username/disklabel instead of /media/disklabel. Uuh, thanks for that info! I was not aware of that but it might prove very useful to know... Seems to be a udisks2 feature. Quite annoying because it breaks my backup script for backing up to a extern...

Re: Connections to various google hosts without intervention

@ johndoe/Dennis: default-Google'ing is still active in mintUpdate: https://github.com/linuxmint/mintupdate/blob/master/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/mintUpdate.py#L1711 The behaviour is a bit weird: To determine whether it is online or not, mintUpdate tries to connect to http://google.com , if that ...

useful nemo actions

Hi, since nemo has the great ability now to create custom actions, this could be a place to collect some of them. I created two that I was missing all the time after leaving nautilus: ⋅ Optimize PNG files: https://gist.github.com/VolMi/5595867 ⋅ Compare with meld: https://gist.gi...

wget --recursive --level=4 --convert-links http://livelinux.altervista.org/Guida_LMDE/index_en.html I'm always a day late and a dollar short, but I gotta thank you for your post. I had no idea you could 'capture' an entire website onto your hard drive :!: I was wishing I could somehow download this...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide

At the risk of being a pain, is there any chance we could get an offline version? I know I'm going to forget about this if it's buried in my Chromium bookmarks. You can create an offline version by yourself, by just downloading the website. Open a terminal and navigate to a folder of choice, e.g. y...

What do you think about?

Wow, how cool is that?
Was it your idea to use gnome's control centre layout? This seems totally useful and cool to me.

Re: POLL: Are you tracking new Mint Repo or "Debian Testing"

I do mix testing, unstable and experimental using apt-pinning. While packages are generally installed from testing, I like certain programs in userspace to be more up to date. This is my configuration in /etc/apt/preferences: Package: * Pin: release o=linuxmint Pin-Priority: 700 Package: * Pin: orig...
