Re: Gnome Chess Settings on Xfce

That was it!

Thanks for the help on this. Is there a reason the menu button is hidden by default on Xfce?

Re: Gnome Chess Settings on Xfce

Sorry, nothing works. There's no menu button, no settings button, nothing.

Is there a shortcut key for the settings?

Re: Gnome Chess Settings on Xfce

No, haven't changed from full screen.

No, there's no gear icon on mine.

Gnome Chess Settings on Xfce

Where are they?

Gnome Chess man and info page say to look at the wiki, but the wiki is wrong (for me, at least).

I can't see any settings menu, no way to play black for example,

I'm on Mint 19, but I had this problem on 18 too.

Hope you can help. :)

Re: Can't set proper resolution

Ah, for some reason xorg.conf has deleted itself, and the resolution has reverted.

Any reason why this might have happened?

Re: Can't set proper resolution

You sir, are the proverbial man!

Sorted.

For information purposes, it worked just when I changed the Modeline in xorg.config. Nothing more was necessary...

Edit: Spoke too soon. :(

Re: Can't set proper resolution

I tried that, still nothing.

It's still not giving me 1280x1024 as an option.

Is it back to Windows from here?

Re: Can't set proper resolution

I'm using VGA because that's all the monitor has.

Just reset the monitor to factory settings, still nothing.

How likely is it that a BIOS update would fix this?

Re: Can't set proper resolution

I tried that, the option for 1280 isn't in there either. The "auto" setting is 1024x768.

Re: Can't set proper resolution

Okay, I've done that. Unfortunately the 1280x1024 option still isn't in the menu

I can get up to 1152x864, but not 1280. Pretty frustrating stuff!

Can't set proper resolution

Hi, I have a Nvidia GeForce GT530 graphics card, and my monitor Acer AL1912 has a resolution of 1280x1024.

This resolution is not showing up in the display menu, and I can't set my monitor to its native resolution.

I'm running Mint 18 AMD64 with MATE.

Can anybody help?

Re: Xfce has gone all Xfce - not Minty!

Hi,

Yeah, I set the WM theme back to Mint, and set up the panel properly with the Whisker menu and the notification stuff.

So it's all fixed now, and on the plus side I know a bit more about Xfce, so it was still a win :)

Thanks

Re: Xfce has gone all Xfce - not Minty!

Hi, thanks for getting back to me!

I'm afraid that didn't work. It was already set to "Run Xclient script".

I've also tried logging in under the different options on the login screen.

Where is this Xclient script? Can I try running it manually?

[Fixed] Xfce has gone all Xfce - not Minty!

Hi, here's what I did. My kid was logged on, playing games. I logged into tty01 and ran startx. I accidentally clicked to make the session the default session, and now my desktop has the standard Xfce interface with the launcher at the bottom and the bar at the top. Is there a quick way I can reset ...

Re: I want to dual-boot Debian and Mint

Thanks for all the replies. After considering a virtualbox, a USB clone, etc, I've decided I actually had my heart set on a dual-boot. I'm not (entirely) uncomfortable with Debian, I've installed it and use it on my laptop, it's just that I've always had a clean hard drive to play with. Since my lap...

I want to dual-boot Debian and Mint

Could anybody give me some partitioning advice? I installed Linux Mint 13 onto a clean PC a while ago. Now I'd like to dual-boot with Debian (minimal, netinst) to try out different wm's and desktops etc, and get to know it a bit. I'd like to keep my Mint installation (my kids have Minecraft, and all...

Help styling QT for LMMS

Does anybody here know QT? I'm trying to make a theme for LMMS, and so far I've discovered it's all based on QT, but It's all new to me. I've been trying to theme it to look similar to GIMP on Mint 12 (MATE) http://squaredhippy.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/screenshot2.png?w=530&h=397 ...is what I've ...

Re: Merging Zip Files?

Thanks, Vincent!

Absolutely beautiful. Did exactly what I wanted. Hundreds of BBC Games, all sorted into folders in a second!

I love those old games, and what's crazy, my kids do too!

Thanks so much :) Now I'm off to retrogame...
