Re: Problem with the Cinnamon Desktop

Thanks David and austin.texas for your help in fixing my problem. I ran the Driver Manager and found that the driver being used by LM17.3 was xserver-xorg-video-ati. I found that if I use fglrx-updates or fglrx everything works ok just a pity its a proprietary. So thanks again and I am back to my fa...

Re: Problem with the Cinnamon Desktop

Hi Madmogone Thanks for the help, sorry I missed your earlier post. I am running LM 17.3 with Mate with no problems but Cinnamon won't run without crashing. However LM17.3 with Cinnamon runs ok from a live USB so it all seems rather odd. I am wondering whether to do a fresh install of LM with Cinnam...

Re: Problem with the Cinnamon Desktop

Sorry to resurrect this old post but I have been hanging on using Mate hoping the the update the Rosa 17.3 and Cinnamon 2.8.6 would overcome this problem but it hasn't. In fact when I boot up with Cinnamon now it crashes and goes into fallback mode. Is it that my hardware is just not compatible and ...

Re: Problem with the Cinnamon Desktop

Hi Pjotr I tried 3.13.0-67 and that was still the same, I tried 3.16.0-52 and that was still the same. However when I tried 3.19.0-32 Cinnamon would crash and go into fallback mode. For now I will stick with 3.19.0-32 and Mate but I do like Cinnamon and would like to get it working properly again so...

[SOLVED] Problem with the Cinnamon Desktop

A few weeks after an update my Cinnamon desktop started to act strangely. I switched the the Mate desktop and hoped that after a few more updates things would sort themselves out but they haven't. If I hover the cursor over panel icons, various items on the panel disappear for a period then reappear...

[SOLVED] Linux Mint Cinnamon on Acer 710 Chromebook

I am currently running Ubuntu Mate on my Acer 710 Chromebook with Coreboot and it runs surprisingly well. However my distro of choice is Linux Mint Cinnamon. Re: can't connect Motorola Razr M Android phone to mint 17

Hi heem034 May I ask which desktop you are using with your Mint 17? I've always had problems in recent versions of Android but using the Nero file manager with the Cinnamon desktop and Mint 17, I have no problems at all. With both my rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab2 and my stock Motorola G, Nero sees them...

Re: LM 17 Ciinamon Crashes at Startup

Thanks smash72 that did it for me as well. I thought it was going to be a much more complicated problem and I didn't even think of doing another update.

[SOLVED] LM 17 Ciinamon Crashes at Startup

Hi All I have been running Linux Mint 17 with no problems for a few days now but suddenly at startup Cinnamon tries to run but crashes and drops back into fallback mode. I've tried restarting a few times but with the same result. I installed an update lastnight but I can't remember if this was Cinna...

Re: Cinnamon desktop "closing the lid" issue

I had this very problem on my other laptop with Soldyk and Xubuntu as I reported on the Solydxk forum here: http://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3125 You will see from my last posting in that thread that upgrading Solydxk to the latest version, going from kernel 3.11 to 3.13, fixed my s...

Re: Cinnamon Desktop Showing Home Folders

Hi Karl thanks for hanging in there with me.

I had a look in /home/brian/.config and as you suggested XDG_DESKTOP_DIR was pointing to the home directory. Changing to XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop" fixed my problem.

Thanks again.

Re: Wine for 64bit Mint Debian

PCBSD provide WINE for use on their 64 bit system which works like a dream.. However it is done and whatever the back
ground PCBSD has done it. SO WHY CAN'T MINT DEBIAN do it?

Wouldn't it be easier to use PCBSD then?

[SOLVED] Cinnamon Desktop Showing Home Folders

I've just installed Linux Mint Cinnamon and it is looking good except for all those folders from the home directory all over the desktop. Re: Wine for 64bit Mint Debian

Correct me if I'm wrong people but as I see it this is not a really a Mint or Debian problem it's all due to the fact the Wine is still a 32 bit package that needs "work rounds" to get it to work correctly on 64 bit systems. After 2 minutes browsing I found this which may help: http://foru...

Re: Problem with Linux Mint 14 Xfce

A bit of an update which makes me no wiser but perhaps may help to point to the problem. I made another download and created another LIve USB but with the same result with a blue screen. If I right click on the blue screen I get a desktop type menu open with a few bits greyed out, open terminal and ...
