Re: Glacix 8.0 release

That's embarrasing. I made a last-minute change to using squeeze as a base, and then I waited a few weeks to test it before I released it. And by that time I forgot. :P
I'll be editing the main post.

Re: Glacix 8.0 release

Glacix 6.2 is based on lenny too, but that was made back when Mint was at version 6 and lenny wasn't stable yet.
Debian lenny doesn't support ext4, but I think squeeze does. So I suppose you could install Glacix on ext3, upgrade to squeeze, then convert root to an ext4 partition.

Glacix 8.0 release

About halfway in between the last time I released Glacix and now, I did about half the work needed to make a new version. A couple weeks ago, I figured I'd finish. LinuxTracker torrent It's based on Debian testing/squeeze, meaning it will be updated with new applications, etc. until squeeze becomes ...

Re: Please NO mono in Mint

Who says we in the US have to follow all the licensing restrictions? Nobody has gone after anything in Linux Mint yet - if they do, I'll uninstall it. ;)

Re: mintMenu won't run on CentOS?

It did end up working on Fedora. I'd agree that the problem is probably that the components in CentOS aren't new enough for mintMenu.

Will OEM install come in Mint 9?

Ubuntu has had an OEM installer for some time now, and I don't think it would be too hard to put this into Linux Mint. The Universal Edition DVD would be a perfect fit, since it could install all the languages and the OEMs wouldn't be shipping any copyrighted/patented codecs. Is this a planned featu...

Re: mintMenu won't run on CentOS?

It works on Debian just fine. That's why I'm trying CentOS now - I'm bored :)

mintMenu won't run on CentOS?

I've been trying to make an RPM for mintMenu on RHEL/CentOS 5.3. The RPM compiled (finally!) but now mintMenu won't run: *********** Keybind Driver Load Failure ************** Error Report : No module named _keybinder Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu...

Re: What's Going On Here?

Here's a torrent:

Right now, I'm the only one seeding this, so it will be very, very slow at first.

psych1610: If you could download the ISO from above and host it, that would be great.

Re: What's Going On Here?

The working ISO has been removed from FileFront for some reason - for a second time. If anyone has somewhere they could host the ISO (it's 156MB) I would be grateful.
I'm not actively working on Glacix right now, but I'm keeping (trying to keep) it out there in case others want to try it out.

Re: Glacix 6.1 (small update)

I think that might be an earlier one. I'll have to check.
EDIT: Yep, it's earlier. I'm not sure why I went up to 6.2 then back down to 6.1, but I'll call the new upload 6.2 to make it more logical.
EDIT2: The ISO has been re-uploaded and the link in post 1 updated.

Glacix 6.1 (small update)

Since Glacix 6.1 no longer has any seeders, I've uploaded a small, ~156MiB ISO you can use to install it. It's based on Debian lenny (now stable), and if you have Glacix installed already, a simple APT upgrade will do. This is just for new installs. Most of the .deb packages are downloaded from Debi...

Re: Mint Debian

If someone wanted to make a Mepis-based "minty" CD, that would be great. You can't use remastersys with Mepis; it uses its own system, and I don't really know much about it. You could look here if you're interested: http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php/Remastering_script EDIT: Just saw e...

Re: Glacix 6.1

Thanks for testing! The reasoning behind my including the HP tools and not system-config-printer was because that's how it is in standard Debian. I don't really have any experience setting up printing on Linux, so that's what I went with. I'll probably remove the HP tools and add in system-config-pr...

Re: Felicia: Crash! BusyBox. ?Bug

SystemRescueCD has a root=auto feature to try and boot any Linux system it finds. That might help you get into Mint.

Re: Glacix 6.1

Clem told me in an e-mail that it won't get an official Mint release unless it has a live CD installer and mintUpdate stable snapshots. I don't blame him, really; those are two things which would provide the same sort of user-friendliness, etc. that we see in Linux Mint. Since it's not an official M...

Glacix 6.1

Glacix GNU/Linux 6.1 has been released. This distribution combines a Debian lenny base with the theme and tools from Linux Mint. For this version, only a CD version is available. It can be downloaded from FileFront or via torrent. FileFront: http://files.filefront.com/Glacix+61iso/;12985678;/fileinf...

Re: mintMenu in Glacix

It will be based on Debian testing, but people can dist-upgrade to sid later if they want.
Right now, the quick fix I've made is making 3's unchecked by default, so people should only upgrade if they know it's safe.

Re: Mint Debian

I would like to make this an official edition. A big benefit, of course, would be having a repository and not having to use Filefront for the ISOs. Also, it would help people know about it who would like it, and it would get me more feedback so I could improve it further. A little late Christmas pre...
