Re: Please NO mono in Mint
Who says we in the US have to follow all the licensing restrictions? Nobody has gone after anything in Linux Mint yet - if they do, I'll uninstall it.

Re: mintMenu won't run on CentOS?
It did end up working on Fedora. I'd agree that the problem is probably that the components in CentOS aren't new enough for mintMenu.

Will OEM install come in Mint 9?
Ubuntu has had an OEM installer for some time now, and I don't think it would be too hard to put this into Linux Mint. The Universal Edition DVD would be a perfect fit, since it could install all the languages and the OEMs wouldn't be shipping any copyrighted/patented codecs. Is this a planned featu...

Re: mintMenu won't run on CentOS?
It works on Debian just fine. That's why I'm trying CentOS now - I'm bored

mintMenu won't run on CentOS?
I've been trying to make an RPM for mintMenu on RHEL/CentOS 5.3. The RPM compiled (finally!) but now mintMenu won't run: *********** Keybind Driver Load Failure ************** Error Report : No module named _keybinder Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu...

Re: Mint Debian
If someone wanted to make a Mepis-based "minty" CD, that would be great. You can't use remastersys with Mepis; it uses its own system, and I don't really know much about it. You could look here if you're interested: http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php/Remastering_script EDIT: Just saw e...

Re: Felicia: Crash! BusyBox. ?Bug
SystemRescueCD has a root=auto feature to try and boot any Linux system it finds. That might help you get into Mint.

Re: Mint Debian
I would like to make this an official edition. A big benefit, of course, would be having a repository and not having to use Filefront for the ISOs. Also, it would help people know about it who would like it, and it would get me more feedback so I could improve it further. A little late Christmas pre...

Linux Mint Orange - GTK theme
The other day I was experimenting with the Linux Mint GTK theme to see what colors went well with it. To my surprise, the Ubuntu orange color looks pretty nice (if orange is your thing.) I also changed the icon theme to Human (install "human-icon-theme" to get it) and made the titlebar dar...

Re: GLaCiX - Artwork Brainstorming
Anyone want to try making an ISOLINUX splash screen for the boot menu? It should probably have the logo on the bottom because the menu is on top. Anything else goes.

Mint OEM install
I think an OEM option ought to be implemented into Linux Mint Universal Edition. Since this edition doesn't have the codecs, it makes since that this would be shipped with refurbished computers. All that's needed is to add a couple options to the ISOLINUX append list: only-ubiquity oem-config/enable...

Re: MintMenu in openSUSE!!!!
I've been meaning to post this for a while: http://files.filefront.com/mintmenu+42mintsystem+61tgz/;12707015;/fileinfo.html It's a .tar.gz archive to extract to the root directory. It contains modified versions of mintsystem and mintmenu from Linux Mint 6 (some files are removed and a few are change...

Terminal session for GDM/KDM
The idea popped into my head the other day that there should be an option in the GDM Sessions menu to just launch a terminal window for the X session. This can be useful in case you just want to run one application or a few terminal commands without waiting for GNOME to load. The result is x-termina...

Re: Source for default wallpaper?
On second thought, I probably will use a different wallpaper for my distro, to differentiate it from Mint. Thanks for replying, though.

Source for default wallpaper?
Where can I get the source for the default Linux Mint wallpaper? I'm looking to make a version without the logo so I can use it on my Debian system (see here.)
