Re: UP 5: cinnamon, cheese, empathy, and others in conflict

Yep, same issue I have with Mint-X theme. The window decoration is black. You can't see the window title but you can see a gray X to close it. Yep. I got a more usable theme by going to Cinnamon Settings -> Themes -> Other settings, and changing GTK+ theme to avoid the Mint-X family. Only that sett...

Re: UP 5: cinnamon, cheese, empathy, and others in conflict

Sorry, meant to include this in the first post, and then got sidetracked after I went ahead with apt dist-upgrade. Thanks much for your advice, zerozero! output of 'apt dist-upgrade' ~$ apt dist-upgrade [sudo] password for sage: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state in...

UP 5: cinnamon, cheese, empathy, and others in conflict

In testing the incoming updates on my system (UP 5), I ran into some problems. I used Synaptic to update all the packages that I could without having to remove significant conflicting packages. Now I've got about 60 packages left to upgrade that conflict with each other in various ways. Updating Cin...

lots of conflicts on my system

[UPDATE]: All is well after doing 'apt dist-upgrade' except for the theme issue, which seems to be the same one squeezy reports later on. See screenshot in this thread: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=198&t=109092 -------------------------------- My update hasn't been going as smoothly a...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Desktop Settings is largely useless after the update. Fortune cookies don't work(!). (I noticed a deletion in the bash config file when it offered to let me keep the old one, but I figured it was just done a different way now.) And the options for showing trash and other things on the desktop are ap...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

I did a safe upgrade first, and then started going through with Synaptic to do as many upgrades as I could find that didn't look like they'd cause major breakage. On my system, there are a few dozen packages it wants to remove for a full update, similar to what squeezy notes above (plus a bunch of l...

Re: Won't connect until I unload and reload wl module

Known Issues Frequent disconnections can be experienced. This may be resolved by disabling power management via iwconfig(8) (e.g. iwconfig eth1 power off). SOURCE: http://wiki.debian.org/wl I had seen that, but I don't think that's the same bug I'm having. Once it's connected, it doesn't disconnect...

Have you tried to use "WEP 40/128-bit" instead of 128-bit? Even if the key is 128-bit!
That's what it uses. (It's a 40-bit key.) It remembers the key just fine, and connects without me re-entering the key after I do the unload/reload bit.

Re: Won't connect until I unload and reload wl module

...it will prompt me to re-enter the password... Hi! Right click NetworkManager's icon > Edit Connections > Wireless > check "Activate for all users" Thanks for the idea. I mis-described it a bit. NetworkManager remembers the password, it just presents the password dialog again since it couldn't co...

Won't connect until I unload and reload wl module

Here's the problem I'm having (which didn't used to happen until a few weeks ago): Upon startup and login, network manager tries to connect to my default network. However, it never successfully connects; eventually, it will prompt me to re-enter the password and then it will again try and fail to co...
