I was hoping to find a solution after finding this topic.
Seems like we are both stuck with this predicament
MATE version also has the same problem
can't disable autologin on the liveCD
i'll be happy to just be able to enable screen saver with password prompt, even that is disabled

Re: Why do so many people think XFCE is lightweight?
you should try Cinnamon on the same machine, instead of Mate or Xfce from personal experience on low end linux boxes where i had Gnome lagging as hell, but are able to run Xfce just fine, those same boxes can run Cinnamon very nicely as soon as i realized that installed and made Cinnamon the default...

Mint 13 Cinnamon is by far the easiest upgrade ever
At first i had my hesitation upgrading from Mint 12 to Mint 13, as i wasn't sure if I should have gone Mate or Cinnamon Gave a quick 5 minute review of each booting them off USB, and found out the path to Gnome "4" Mate is not as polished as Cinnamon, quite ironic considering Cinnamon is s...

installing the drivers from ATI website fixed my flickering problems but it still does not let me enable Xinerama or to use each monitor as its own display
