I installed the drivers for the MG3520 Pixma printer, printing works fine but no scanner is detected. Can't figure out a fix :( Why would it see printer but not scanner?

What is the expanding window feature? How do I disabled it?

What is this feature when I drag a window to the side to get rid of it from my sight, it just auto-expands and makes me pound on my keyboard in frustration. "No you dang window, I said out of my sight!!" So I drag it UP instead of to the side, and it expands up there ... "Urrrghh ... ...

Attempt to read or write outside HD0

when I first installed and used the whole disk it would say error "attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0'" so I tried installing to a 30Gig partition of the 160gig drive, and that worked fine, no errors so I made a 4gig swap partition after installation, it comes right after the 30...

LVM.. Easier resizing??

When I went to install Mint, it said LVM makes it easier to resize partitions, so I thought this would be cool and told it to use the whole disk, (I could resize later since it's easier right) so it installed /dev/sda1 is ext2 .... Ext2?? so I upgraded that to Ext4 because ext2 has no journalizing a...

suspend never wakes up

I booted from live cd on USB, when the computer suspends (Acer extensa 4420) it never wakes back up, it tries to wake up but the monitor never comes back on, and caps lock won't work (indicating system crash rather than simply a graphics issue) being that it is a live-cd version and I don't yet know...

How do I edit the partition/squashfs file in USB

I installed the live-boot image using universal USB creator to an 8Gig USB if I tell Universal USB to allow space to save files it degrades performance greatly because it has to unpack/repack I guess. What I wanted to do is edit the USB partition from 8Gigs down to 1Gig and 7Gig, 1Gig would have the...

[Solved] Booting stalls|graphics problem

If I boot up, sometimes it says something about "cannot sendbytes" or something, i2c error or ... I really can't remember and it's up for a short time. then sometimes it boots but stalls, and there's green, red, blue dots and lines all over the screen. so if I boot holding shift, boot into...

Re: Someone with GRUB Customizer...please read

So I just installed Mint 13 Cinnamon. Been using Ubuntu for some time now, but that's a sinking ship.... So tried and liked Maya. One of the first things I installed was GRUB Customizer. I tried to change the font and that mesed it up. Now I can barely read the GRUB entries and I can't get it back ...

Cannot share folders or browse network

I installed Linux Mint 13 maya (cinnamon) onto my PC, it worked great and sharing was available from the get-go with no need to customize any packages, so I installed it to my sister's PC I told her "Look, it's so much more stable than Ubuntu also and the networking feature works great" I ...

Re: Customized Mint 13 with gnome shell as default DE

Did you use Remastersys or Relinux? I think I read somewhere Relinux is better for this sort of job.
I made a custom distribution as well (with Remastersys), but ran into similar problems.

This is actually a different problem, the first problem was on a USB 3.0 device connected to a USB 2.0 port, this time it is a USB 2.0 device connected to a USB 2.0 port, and the issue seems to go away when in windows. the bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/500069 was re...

data transfer is really slow

on mint, I started transfer of the mint-cinnamon ISO to a USB drive and it said 1hour remaining, it was going 20 MB/s then down, 19,18,17... until hitting 3 MB/s and lower... so I reboot into the dual boot of Windows 7, re-started the transfer to the USB device, speed started at 2MB/s and climbed up...

Re: SSD for Dummies Quick Question

The theory behind this is that there are little switches inside the SSD which as they are switched on and off over time they become damaged and break, the drive usually will try to use error correcting and move the data from the damaged switch to a new switch, causing the drive to slowly get smaller...
