Re: Progress...

@Kendall: Awesome news!

@randomizer: I have the same problem but only with text files on my SD card. Text files on the desktop or home directory open as expected. MP3 or videos on the SD card open without any problems though...

Re: Progress...

Hello all, @senseiski It appears you are right! Man, I have been away from Mint for two years and it's starting to show! It's my first time using the LXDE edition so I didn't know... Personally, I find Gigolo much easier to use. I had pyNeighborhood work but I had to change the shortcut to start it ...

Re: Progress...

How about using Gigolo ? From the homepage: Gigolo is a frontend to easily manage connections to remote filesystems using GIO/GVfs. It allows you to quickly connect/mount a remote filesystem and manage bookmarks of such. It is part of the Xfce Goodies project and the Subversion respository is hosted...

Re: Linux Mint 9 LXDE - Some issues

Hey again,

There's no need for a particular editor to implement the changes I posted above. Just open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

sudo leafpad /usr/share/themes/Shiki-Wise-LXDE/gtk-2.0/panel.rc
Then just copy/paste one of the solutions posted above.

Hope that helps!

Re: Linux Mint 9 LXDE - Some issues

Hey Yonatan, I don't have an answer for all your questions but I think I may have a fix for your taskbar problem. I'm merely copy and pasting what I found here so all credits goes to them! You need to edit the panel.rc in /usr/share/themes/Shiki-Wise-LXDE/gtk-2.0 (you'll need root privileges) and ad...

Re: Progress...

Hey again, I just stumbled upon this other version of the Shiki theme on deviantart. It was made in January 2010: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/011/f/7/Shiki_Colors_for_Openbox_by_jmcknight.png I've been using it for a month on Lubuntu and didn't encounter any bug. I find it slightly more p...

Re: Progress...

Hey Kendall, I just wanted to join everyone to congratulate and thank you on this new release. I know it's not final yet but it looks very promising. I discovered LXDE a couple of months ago with Lubuntu and I couldn't wait to see what a Mintified version would look like. Needless to say, I'm very i...

Great release!

Hi everyone, I've been away (though never too far) from the Linux world and Mint for the past two years (don't hit me, please!) but finally got some time and money to buy myself a new budget mini-ITX rig. And what better OS than Mint to exploit all its wonders? Needless to say, Mint 9 RC does not di...

Re: Best Gnome desktop I've ever seen - mock-up for Ubuntu

It certainly looks pretty but I'm seriously doubtful about its day to day usability. Though I have to admit I'm a sucker for lighter/brighter color schemes. As far as what the next Ubuntu theme should look like, Gelatin gets my vote :) http://vdepizzol.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/ubuntu-hardy1.jpg V...

Re: Need password for file sharing.

Hello David, I don't know if this can help but looking at this thread on the ubuntu forums I http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=560380 helped me solve this problem. Basically, I created a username and a password using the two following commands in a terminal (one at a time). sudo smbpasswd -e ...

Re: Speakers keep playing when headphones plugged

Hello everyone, I had the same problem with my laptop (3 years-old HP-Compaq NC6120 with an Intel ICH6), the solution I found is fairly simple: Just double click on the Volume Control (the speaker at the bottom right of your screen) and go to the 'Switches' tab. There, make sure the Headphone Jack S...

Re: Japanese Text and Google-Mint Start Page - Bug ?

Hi there Clem, Your fix has done the trick! :D That was to be expected from our very own Mint Guru^^ Thanks and good luck! P.S: not to be too demanding but while I have you here, do you have any idea about that Mint Menu (from the romeo repo) not remembering settings as pointed out in this thread? :...

Re: Icon theme that blends GREAT with the Mint desktop

Thanks for the suggestion, Zwopper, this is a really nice set indeed! Too bad some of them look really blurry in 22x22 or 24x24 in the menu. I personally quite enjoy the Tango Materia - Green available @ http://materia.infinitiv.it/ though I can understand why some people may find them too flashy an...

[SOLVED] Japanese Text and Google-Mint Start Page - Bug ?

Hello everyone, I just want to report what may be a tiny bug related to the customized Google-Mint start page. If I perform a search in Japanese (using XIM Input Method), the results page seems to lose the encoding and displays garbage instead. Here are two screenshots to illustrate what I mean: Whe...

Re: mintMenu does not remember settings

Hello b0ng0, I have the same problem here and I was able to solve it only partially. I was able to fix the 'Places' tab not being properly minimized but I can't seem to have the sidepane hide. All I did was edit the %gconf.xml that you will find in /home/username/.gconf/apps/mintMenu/plugins/places ...
