Re: HELP: M12_KDE64Live: black screen with only mousepointer
If you stop at the battery maybe it's a acpi problem, try to boot with the options: nomodeset acpi=off Sometimes works: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=92862&p=540547 btw the batterycheck is OK-ed, so it is the next step that freezes even before it is printed. anyway, nomod...

Re: HELP: M12_KDE64Live: black screen with only mousepointer
If you press the Ctrl-Alt-F1 key do you go to a console? Did you try to boot with the "Compatibility mode"? I do indeed go to a console, but since I didn't know how to proceed from there, that was as far as I got (and Compatibility mode resulted in a hang after checking battery status). a...

Re: HELP: M12_KDE64Live: black screen with only mousepointer
You can try this it worked for me When grub shows click Tab At the bottom you will see quiet splash-- remove the -- And put in nomodeset Click enter that allowed me to get in and set resolution an it worked there after I'm sort of a newbie, so I need a bit more help. after clicking 'Tab', do I ente...

Re: HELP: M12_KDE64Live: black screen with only mousepointer
If you press the Ctrl-Alt-F1 key do you go to a console? Did you try to boot with the "Compatibility mode"? Compatibility mode doesn't go beyond 'checking battery status'. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace brings back the same balck screen a couple of times, then it opens a window for the KDE-crashhandl...

HELP: M12_KDE64Live: black screen with only mousepointer
after about 60% of the splash-startup the screen goes all black with just a (working) mousepointer. if I go to the lowerleftcorner and click, I can go up some distance and click again and whatever was there (I suspect from the menu) opens some sort of fancy window, with the name of the application a...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
Well, give it a day or two and see if we get some clarification. I've emailed Clem asking for an update so that we know whether to expect KDE in the near future. thx. hopefully his answer will clarify the situation. as stated by me before, even as a newbie, I would love to go with M11 (or even 12) ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
..... kde will be going the lmde route so what you will have is KDE lmde....no more editions of mint for kde...just updated isos for each version periodically (so that new installers won't have so many update packs to catch up with).... so, no more ubuntu based mint kde...only rolling distro (debia...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
after that there will be many many months to get the kde and other debian testing releases going...so i guess you kde fans will just have to be patient...especially since it kind of seems like Clem would have to take over for Boo...i sort of get the impression he may not be actively involved anymor...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
Final question, why would anybody want a desktop where the icons were all over the place? If are particularly perverse and you want that then that is the default behaviour anyway.

for one, I do. not all over the place, but: to group icons (when they are of the same genre) and to ta...

Re: install on an unformatted hard drive
thx
hopefully 11 KDE will be out soon, so I can try if my (old and) trusted AMD 2500XP works well enough (otherwise I'll stick with 11 LXDE) and try out the install to see if it all goes to plan.

Re: control centre in v11 [SOLVED}
thx vincent! I've got my usual 2 desktops now (luckily I remembered CTRL + Alt + L/R-arrow to change between them, as there is no possibility to do that in the taskbar) and for the time sudo date --set="30 aug 2011 22:50:00" finally did the trick (without the 'sudo' I got "Operation n...

install on an unformatted hard drive [waiting for 11 KDE]
I would like to run either 11 LXDE or KDE after a Live-version try-out and then install on an unformatted hard drive.
Is this possible from the installation?
thx in advance

control centre in v11 [SOLVED]
I'm trying out Mint11 LXDE in the Live-version but I'm missing a lot of the usual options. the whole control centre-option is missing, so I can't adjust anything (except the panel [on the panel itself]). I would f.i. like to have two desktops and change the time. is his because of the Live-version i...
