Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - Jun 14th
Of no interest to Craigevil. But for others who use Google as their calendar and who are also Gnome users - this is what I did. I only ever used Evolution to serve Google Calendar through Gnome Calendar. So I took this opportunity to do what I should have done long ago and that is integrate Google ...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - Jun 7th
For me, I have learned that running SID I have to make frequent backups with Clonezilla. Ten Minutes to clone a partition, and about the same to restore. Sometimes you can fix a borked installation, sometimes, not so easy. Some times you don't want to mess around and get back on quickly. That's the...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - Jun 7th
Now that that mess is sorted perhaps I can trouble you with a question? I couldn't find this on a search. Before rebooting, in order to avoid the problem, I actually installed these downloaded .deb files from the aptosid razorqt repository. I should have just added the repository but I was getting G...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - Jun 7th
Sorry for the stupid question but how do you recover if you can't use your keyboard or mouse? I know you can generally boot from a rescue cd and access the filesystem, but it seems you would need to revert to an old package via apt-get or dpkg and I don't know how you do that on just a mounted files...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - May 20th
I keep hoping to see XFCE 4.10. It's been in experimental for a while now but I have no idea how to tell when it will migrate to SID. I have had no problems since upgrading to Xfce 4.10 from the Experimental repository. Thanks, I did it yesterday. The main functionality is fine, some of the plugins...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - May 20th
I had temporarily enabled Experimental and upgraded all the xfce packages to 4.10 that I could find. Might have missed something. Saw no big differences..? Except some panel applets no longer worked. Reverted to a recent clone. Decided to wait for them to filter down to SID. I'm excited for...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - May 5th
I've been holding off for a while on upgrading syslinux and syslinux-common because of the following returned from apt-listbugs. I'm not really sure if this would affect me or not but it looks serious if it does. Any input? Retrieving bug reports... Done Parsing Found/Fixed information... Done grav...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - (Tracking SID!) - May 5th
Yep, I updated something recently and gnome-shell is dead. LXDE is working. I don't have any sense of urgency, is the standard procedure in this instance just to wait it out and hope that a subsequent update will set things right? Or do I have to go back and back out some updates?

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID) - BREAKAGES - May 1st
GregE, Thanks but I already did that at least 3 times. That hasn't helped. I did copy the files over from my old /home folder also. Thanks Dan I had VirtualBox issues and finally gave up on the respository. I downloaded it from their webpage. I think I installed (horror of horrors) the Ubuntu versi...

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID) - BREAKAGES - May 1st
@cooleric1234, if you want to run sid properly, do yourself a big favor gksu gedit /etc/apt/preferences set all the numbers to 500, save, close and run again aptitude. tell me something. That did it, thanks. I see that that sets the priority of where package updates come from. Was that just left ov...

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID) - BREAKAGES - May 1st
Anybody else having KDE/Qt issues? I don't use KDE but I have the libraries installed for a few applications. When I try to upgrade with aptitude now I'm presented with a slew of choices, but mostly just the first and variations of the second below: The following NEW packages will be installed: libq...

I successfully upgraded apt but now get this error every time (tried to upgrade just one package below):
Tried the above steps of cleaning the cache too.

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID) - BREAKAGES - Apr 12
+1 on clementine (plus, the v. on the repos in very updated - either testing or sid), of course it will install some qt deps, but i think it's a fair trade-off. Rhythmbox came a long way as well; overall linux is full of music players (maybe too many?) what is the one feature that makes banshee so ...

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID) - BREAKAGES - Apr 12
I haven't found a gnome media player that is as full featured and useful as banshee, so I guess I'll just hold back the cil upgrades until that's worked out.
