Re: AMD 7900 XT not working properly after kernel and mesa update
I'm running into this as well. The kisak PPA doesn't seem to have i386 versions of the packages? rua@rua-desktop ~ $ apt show -a mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386 Package: mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386 Version: 22.0.5-0ubuntu0.3 [...] Package: mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386 Version: 22.0.1-1ubuntu2 [...] rua@rua-deskto...

[SOLVED] linux-tools-generic does not update for kernel 5.8
I'm using the kernel 5.8.0 line in Linux Mint 20.1. I have the linux-tools-generic package installed, but this metapackage (currently) depends on linux-tools-5.4.0-65-generic, which is not the right package for the installed kernel. I can install the specific package for the current kernel version (...

Re: Automatic updates aren't being applied
A friend suggested I create the file /etc/systemd/system/mintupdate-automation-upgrade.service.d/dependencies.conf and put this in it: [Unit] After=network-online.target Since then, I've had no more problems, and according to the logs, the updates are being applied and there are no more networking p...

Re: Automatic updates aren't being applied
I found /var/log/mintupdate.log and it seems to have some useful information. This is when I turned on the computer today: -- Automatic Upgrade starting Thu 23 Apr 2020 09:58:52 CEST: Error: mint-refresh-cache could not update the cache. Reading package lists... Re: Automatic updates aren't being applied
I waited a few days, and since then new updates have accumulated, none of them being applied. So manually applying didn't fix the problem. What I do notice is that the trigger time for the updates (as in the output in the first message) is always somewhere just after midnight. The computer is always...

I recall that not working before, but I've just applied everything myself. We'll see what happens.

[Solved] Automatic updates aren't being applied
I have automatic updates enabled, but for some reason they aren't being applied and remain available as updates. According to this command, they should be scheduled daily: rua@rua-desktop ~ $ systemctl status mintupdate-automation-upgrade.timer ● mintupdate-automation-upgrade.timer - Update Manager ...

Installing libpulse0 wants to uninstall Cinnamon and more
I'm struggling with the same problem. Installing libpulse0 wants to uninstall a bunch of stuff including Cinnamon. However, I get the same problem when I try the proposed solution: rua@rua-desktop ~ $ sudo apt install libpulse0=1:11.1-1ubuntu7.4 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree...

Re: Wine with gstreamer on 64bit system
I have been having this problem for a very long time. The two architectures clash with each other, making it impossible to install 32-bit and 64-bit versions side by side. That in turn makes it impossible to use 32-bit programs with media support. It seems very strange that nobody has had this probl...

[SOLVED with bug] Synaptic crashes, apt-get segfaults
I am using Mint 15 MATE edition 64-bit, and I tried to add the removed archive to the software sources through Synaptic. But something went wrong along the way and suddenly it just crashed and exited. I haven't been able to run it again. When I try, the GUI comes up for a moment and then it exits wi...

Re: How do I install experimental Catalyst drivers?
Thank you, that is helpful. But it's not really the convenient answer I was hoping for. Is there no repository that I can use to automate the process through package management, in the way that the standard Mint-supplied drivers are?

How do I install experimental Catalyst drivers?
I am trying to update the drivers for my Radeon HD5770 card (which is supported by the latest drivers) to use the Catalyst 12.11 beta drivers. Here and here it's noted that Ubuntu now supports experimental (beta) drivers. However, the drivers tab under software sources still only lists two drivers, ...

Re: How do I get 'ugly' gstreamer plugins for i386 on 64 bit
Yes I do have it installed. It may work for some things but as far as I know it's being phased out in favour of multi-architecture support. Unfortunately that isn't working yet in this case... :/

How do I get 'ugly' gstreamer plugins for i386 on 64 bit?
I'm using a 32-bit program in Mint 13 64 bit that relies on gstreamer and its plugins to play streaming media. The repositories do provide what seems like a 32 bit compatibility library for a subset of formats, gstreamer0.10-plugins-good:i386 (alongside gstreamer0.10-plugins-good which is the regula...

Re: Screenshot app malfunctioning, Linux Mint 13 with Cinnam
I'm having the same problem. Using Mint 13 Cinnamon, ATI Catalyst drivers on a Radeon HD 5770. When I go to GIMP after that and try to paste, it tells me there is no image data on the...
