Re: Should clarify LM Blog description of LMDE 2 "Betsy"

jcoles: I think the confusion here is that Clem's Linux Mint Blog entry basically referred to software developed by the Mint team, such as the software listed by xenopeek. Underneath the LMDE2 software is, of course, the Debian stable base (currently jessie) which does tend to use older software, un...

Re: BBC Radio

BBC iPlayer should run fine on Firefox for both TV and Radio. However, if you don't want TV then you could give Radioplayer a try.

p.s. Presumably you do live in the UK? If this is not the case then many BBC programmes may not be available to you due to licensing restrictions.

Re: Weak HDMI signal

If the older TV is displaying "weak or no signal" it seems to me that it is referring to its built-in broadcast TV tuner, rather than the HDMI input from your computer.

I suggest you check the "AV" menu options on your older TV and make sure that you are selecting the correct HDMI input connector.

Re: When the new version of LMDE will come out ?

When the new version of LMDE will come out ? I would expect a new version of LMDE after Stretch has been released as the new Debian stable. I wish to move to testing debian repos for newer kernel version. LMDE is designed to run with Debian stable repos. If you wish to use Debian testing repos then...

Would you now please mark the thread as solved to help any other users with a similar query. You need to edit your first post in this thread and add the prefix [Solved] to the title. Only the OP (Original Poster) can do this.

Re: Date separator in Thunderbird email list

flicpper: This is why I suggested trying the "Super Date Format" add-on. Although I have never used this myself, it looks like it will do what you require in that it provides a simple GUI where you can define exactly which format you want. To see how it works, open the "Super Date Format" link I pos...

Re: Date separator in Thunderbird email list

flicpper: The Thunderbird date display format is based on your system settings and so, if these are not set to your actual location then it is not surprising that the date format and currency settings seem to be incorrect. However, you may still be able to tweak the date format to your requirements ...

I have no idea what "MS Publisher" does but LibreOffice (already on your Mint system) can easily print booklets.

Re: How to remove deb-multimedia.org (dmo) repo from LMDE 2

zorzi: As you have found out, it is not a good idea to restore the dmo repository if you don't want lots of other packages to be "upgraded" to dmo again! If you really need a specific Debian application that was formerly in a dmo package then I suggest you will need to look at each one individually ...

Re: How to remove deb-multimedia.org (dmo) repo from LMDE 2

zorzi: Not all the dmo packages have equivalents in the Debian repos. However, if you have now removed the dmo repo from your sources.list then it should be possible to replace most of the dmo packages with Debian packages. In order to check your current repos, please open a terminal, maximize the w...

Re: SSH simply will not work !!! Losing my mind ...

LinWinux: I cannot express this any more clearly: The client user account is irrelevant . If you use the CLI then this should not be a problem. You have chosen to use a GUI which you find confusing. This is one of the problems with GUIs - they can make matters appear to be more complicated than they...

Re: VLC is not receiving security updates

SolydXK removed DMO some time ago and, having replaced my SolydXK DMO packages with the Debian versions, I haven't noticed any problems. Having said that, I am not a great user of multimedia and VLC tends to deal with most of my day-to-day AV requirements. However, note that there are some anomalies...
