Re: LMDE (Tracking SID, or other non-standard) BREAKAGES!

Glad that worked for you, GeneC...once you are fully d-u'ed you can reinstate the LMDE repos if you wish

Try reconfiguring your fonts:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
or

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config
HTH

Evolution..ugh, ugly ugly stuff. It indeed should be optional in my opinion

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID, or other non-standard) BREAKAGES!

@GeneC I got around that by temporarily commenting out the LMDE repos and refreshing the repos then forcing the upgrade. Your problem is due to the LMDE repos taking precedence.

Re: LMDE (Tracking SID, or other non-standard) BREAKAGES!

OK I managed to upgrade my install to Sid but GDM3 won't start...startx gets me to my desktop

EDIT: Solved..gdm3 tried to start twice...a reboot fixed it.

Downloaded the ISO already and wrote it to my USB stick with Unetbootin. So much better than the older version without some of the annoying bugs.

This may be a great change from Aptosid but I'm game enough to try upgrading an LMDE install to Debian sid :)

DeepDayze in the house!

Hello LMDE denizens! I'm new to this forum but not new to the Linux distro game :)

I am currently using Aptosid on my desktop and AntiX on my old IBM Thinkpad T42 and thought I'd explore LMDE as it has a pleasing GNOME implementation. Looking forward to the adventure!
