How to set high priority usb i/o ?

Is there a way to set a very high priority for usb i/o (with Jackd for audio processing) in the System Monitor on LM19.3, Mate ? At the moment the only process set to very high priority is PulseAudio, everything else is normal priority. This should prioritize the cpu scheduling of the process, corre...

Final update: all working now nicely, including sceptre monitor for my nvidia nv43 geforce 6600gt, needed to add graphics ubuntu ppa for drivers, that gives 2 choices in drivers, nvidia-304 driver or xserver-xorg-video-nouveau although nouveau driver appears to be a bit sluggish, it is really the on...

Re: LM 19.2 Garbled Graphics Boot Issue

update: i managed to get wifi working, downloaded and installed nvidia-340 and it boots like new (also partially thanks to BIOS change of Hyper Transport Multiplier from 5x down to 2.5x, which makes the mobo run more reliably, and it fixed a couple of additional minor pesky issues MS-7125 mobo had f...

Re: Grub Install or not ?

17 has older grub, so better to install grub too. Won't LM 19 update take care of the Grub update, or is the LM 19 actually needed for improved installation/boot process, compared to that of LM 17 ? I recall doing a few Grub updates over lifetime of LM17, and my grub is grub-efi-amd64, version: 2.0...

Re: Grub Install or not ?

I read here https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/326944/when-wouldnt-you-want-to-install-grub-bootloader that in general grub is not even needed on uefi systems, i quote: On an UEFI system (most modern PCs these days) you skip all the complexity that GRUB brings. GRUB has two functions: it serve...

Re: How to preserve user data from existing system to new system install ?

When installing 19.2, you should create a separate, new partition for /home, so in the future you can easily upgrade to version 20 without having to copy/move user data. That is what I should have done with earlier system(s) but at least now I know. So for next time root / should be installed on ex...

Re: How to preserve user data from existing system to new system install ?

How to preserve user data from existing system to new system install ?

I would like to replace LM 18.2 with LM 19.2 in standalone HDD install. I have about 300gB of existing data on 1TB hdd that i need to preserve in the existing system. Are you sure you can do that on system that won't boot?

Re: xfburn 0.5.5 upgrade and disk sizes supported

tried to go from 0.5.4 to 0.5.5 on LM18 32-bit using the deb package suggested by Pjotr and received :

" Dependency is not satisfiable: libburn4 (>=1.4.8) "

Checking the installed version in software manager shows installed libburn4 version of 1.4.2.pl01-1
