Rather than start a new thread for the same issue, I would like to include that I also use the gnome-tweak to remove the mint menu (actually the whole bottom panel). But.........when I do this I do it so I can remove the menu (for the same reason that the OP expressed; the gnome shell making it esse...

Have you fixed it yet? I hooked up an hdmi cable to my laptop and ran it to my tv also and everything worked, sound and video, out of the box. I don't know anything to tell you except to keep searching on this site with differently worded search strings. You are bound to come up with something. Hope...

I have 2 sound recorder icons and three java 6 icons in the applications display. Is there a way to nix the ones I dont need? Thanks.

Nice work . Only one constraint. Is it possible to increase the width of search bar. Because after you start to search the result, only half screen is used. Looks better than plain screen.
