Mint 13 - upgrade borked my system

Yesterday I updated my system, and to my surprise I found that although I could log in and boot to the desktop, Cinnamon didn't start. My dock eventually came up, but that's it. There were no windows decorations too. I then checked, and there were no additional upgrades, except a couple that were he...

Ok, I guess that make sense. I'll contact the creator of the theme and will report back to this thread.

MDM - possible to log in without typing your username?

I understand that MDM is supposed to be better than the alternatives out there, but I've been kind of annoyed about the fact that I have to type in my username every time I log in... Isn't there a way of selecting the user without typing ? In previous versions of mint you could select your user from...

Yeah, sure... But I wonder if I'm the only one who have experienced this, or if other get the same problem on their machines.... :?

Re: Cinnamon settings - themes

I've been digging around and I've found out the problem... I have just downloaded the Cinnamon theme "Clear" from the "get new themes" page in cinnamon settings... I then proceeded to unzip it and copy it to /usr/share/themes... But you can see for yourself what happened when I then was going to cho...

Cinnamon settings - themes

Ouch:

how did this happen?

Hopefully it is pretty obvious from the screenshot what the problem is. When I click on "Themes" from Cinnamon settings, this empty dialogue box is all that appears. Have any of you got a clue about what the problem might be?

Re: Desktop Screenshots Thread - June 2012

Hiya Dry Lips! No I'm no coder! I just installed the Spearmint theme from the Cinnamon website here - http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes/view/77 . It's my absolute favourite theme, with Glass-Shell a close second. :) Ok, thanks man! I'm going to download it straight away... However I think...

Re: Desktop Screenshots Thread - June 2012

Loving the theme-ability of Mint Cinnamon thus far. I can't keep my hands off it! However, I think I'm now settled on Spearmint (gorgeous!) with Cairo and a couple of minor tweaks. I like lighter themes, and wanted to capture some true "mintyness". :D http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7531/screens...

Re: AWN and Cinnamon

Personally I prefer AWN to Cairo-dock, because Cairo is too noisy IMO. Secondly, I always find the best way to add a launcher is, rather than messing about doing it the manual way, just launch the application you want to add, and then right click on the launcher that appears for the app and select A...

Re: AWN and Cinnamon

Ok, I figured out that if you add launchers, (and click "edit") you can click on the empty image in order to bring up a dialogue where you can select which icon to use... However, you are limited to using images from the current icon theme... When you click "from file", all images and files are grey...

[solved] AWN and Cinnamon

I'm new to the concept of docks, so if I there is something obvious that I'm overlooking, then I apologize in advance! I want to use a simple yet elegant dock, and AWN seems like what I'm looking for. However I'm unfortunately having trouble adding launchers to it...I understand that you normally ad...
