GTK+ themes

I've just upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 10.04 to Mint 13. How do I go about installing additional gtk+ themes in Cinnamon? Dragging the tar.gz file into the 'Cinnamon settings' or Appearence windows does nothing, nor does extracting it to ~/.themes.

Thanks

Re: grub> text editor

I am not sure, but could this help you? http://www.supergrubdisk.org/rescatux/ Thanks, but no. Its a very easy fix with the mint LiveCD, I just don't have one or the means to create one :? . I can make one at work tomorrow and fix it when I get home, I just thought I was missing something obvious, ...

Re: grub> text editor

Boot from the CD or DVD Live like when you first installed. :D I was hoping you wouldn't say that! This is the only PC I have (I'm writing this on my tablet), I'll need to go into work to burn a new live CD. Is there no way to edit a text file without booting first, or alternatively copying a file....

grub> text editor

I've recently made an alteration to my fstab file which is preventing my computer from booting up. I get to a splash screen which says something along the lines of "Failed to mount /media/extHD, press S to skip or M to do it manually". Well pressing S or M (or s or m) do nothing, its like the keyboa...

Re: Mint 12 RC System Wide proxy

Never mind, I've found it.

For those interested click on your name in the top right corner, then System Settings > Network, then enter the proxy details and hit 'Apply system Wide'.

[SOLVED] Mint 12 RC System Wide proxy

Hi, I'm trying out the new MInt 12 RC at my university which uses a proxy. I can access the internet in firefox by configuring it to use the proxy but I can't find any way of setting a system wide proxy, hence I can't use things like update manager or download proprietary drivers. Any help would be ...

Re: Article Linux Mint the New Ubuntu

I was doing some surfing tonight and found this nice article about linux mint being the new ubuntu. Is this really a good thing though. Personally I love Mint, I emigrated to Mint after Ubuntu 11.04 and haven't looked back but every time I read an article about Mint it points out it is based on Ubu...

Re: grub issue??

Sorry, last couple of posts came while I was typing. OK, in the grub.cfg file you posted, there is only Mint, no ubuntu. Grub is, by default, installed to the master boot record of your 1st hard drive. So, when you installed ubuntu, the grub it installed overwrote the one that was already there (th...

Re: grub issue??

In trying to find a workaround for the non-output of blkid i have changed directory to /dev/disk/by-uuid and then listed the contents to give sudo ls -l total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2011-10-15 13:59 63849613-bb12-4510-bc17-3acdea29f9b2 -> ../../sda5 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2011-10-15 13:59 f6...

Re: grub issue??

Ignore that last post. From the live CD I've mounted my hard drive and here is the output from the grub.cfg in its /boot/grub directory # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### ...

Re: grub issue??

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've removed the HD I installed Ubuntu on and and used the Mint 9 live CD to boot. I don't have a grub.cfg file (only grubenv and linuxmint.png) and blkid produces no output.

[SOLVED] grub issue??

Hi, I've been running linux mint 9 for a while now and wanted to check out the latest Ubuntu. I have two hard drives, sda and sdb. Mint is installed on sda and I installed Ubuntu on sdb (after first erasing it), however I can no longer boot into my mint installation. After turning on the PC I get th...
