Re: Possible Compiz Bug - Mint 17.2 XFCE with Compiz?

I have also had problems with Compiz and 17.2, but mine are a little bit different. Whenever I selected Compiz for use, I could no longer access the 'Window Manager' setting options within the 'Settings Manager'; I would click on it, and the screen would just freeze. Whenever I went back to Xfwm, th...

Re: Minty Madness :)

I am definitely no text editor guru, but I did look in our current repositories and found one called Kephra. It looks fairly feature rich. More detailed info on it is available at:

Happy 'minting'! :D

Re: Making Deluge the default torrent downloader

I use Deluge as my default torrent downloader. I believe your solution is to 1> open Deluge, 2> select 'Preferences' from the 'Menu', and 3> apply choices by clicking on the appropriate places you want your torrent to go (see attached screenshot). Hope this helps... Hawkeye Deluge Setup.png

Re: Borked My Graphical Login

How about if you install an another login manager like KDM? sudo apt-get install kdm sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm It worked! Sad to see that I couldn't get the mdm back up and running, it being Linux Mint's baby and all, but I am happy to be back to an automated process that get's me to my login scree...

Re: Borked My Graphical Login

The graphical login (or setting it to NOT do a graphical login) is a linux PITA. I've never been able to get it to work without a "session manager" like mdm, which you really shouldn't need. (On my Arch install, it'd login to command line, then I'd type $ startx -- vt01 without any sessio...

(SOLVED) Borked My Graphical Login

About two days ago I did a system update, dist-upgrade, and added a new ppa (the Infinality fonts) to my computer (configuration below). Everything worked fine after all that for the entire day. I shut the computer down, and then when I booted again the next day, I found myself at the command line: ...

Re: How are mdm face browser images set?

I am also using Linux Mint 13 (with backports activated), so we are pretty much 'apples to apples' in configuration. When I want to change the face image, I go to 'Cinnamon Settings', then select 'Users and Groups'. At that point I am asked for my password, and then am presented with a screen which ...

Re: Desktop background won't set

Hawkeye_52 I had the same problem in the latest 2.0 version of Cinnamon, and I found that restarting Cinnamon, Alt+F2 then r, switched the system to the new wallpaper. It's not the ideal situation, and presumably it's a bug, but at least it is possible to change the wallpaper. SallyK, Thanks for th...

Re: Bye Bye Windows!

As of today, I am using Linux Mint as my one and only OS. I toke the plunge after about a week, and I removed my 2nd hard drive and Windows along with it. I had dual drives in my system 500GB for Windows 7 and I put in a 320GB for Mint. I removed the 320GB and reformatted the 500gb and did a fresh ...

This is an interesting thread, and I commend the ideas and efforts of those who are involved in the StartUbuntu (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/CommunicationsTeam/WOWLubuntu/StartUbuntu) project. Whether they will be successful -- time will tell. However, at the bottom of their project page is a li...

Orbmiser, I am running two computers; primary with LM15 Cinnamon and secondary with Netrunner KDE (Enigma). The time problem came up on their forum, and a fix was posted there by a user named 'pablodav'. The solution can be found at: http://forums.netrunner-os.com/showthread.php?tid=1086&pid=227...

Re: kmail won't install under xfce

If you are in love with kmail, why don't you just run KDE rather than Xfce? That's the DE it is designed for. If you absolutely must try kmail in Xfce, you mentioned trying to install it using 'software manager'. Have you tried installing it using Synaptic? There may be (KDE) dependencies necessary ...

Re: software installation

I believe it is the version you are using. Linux Mint 10 is obsolete:

Try downloading a current version and start again. I think everything will work out from there.

Good luck,

Re: Mint 14 Cinnamon randomly reverts to default Gnome Icons

Psyire, I have had trouble with this reversion problem in the past, and found that often it had to do with the permissions of the files and/or folders for the alternative theme or icon set that I had selected. Aurora based themes are particularly susceptible to this problem -- I have no idea why. If...

Hehe, that theme is by debimint :) You simply delete your old Void folders and put the new ones in their place. First, thank you for the response. I know my way around some of the other DEs (e.g. Gnome 2, Xfce, LXDE), but I am still feeling my through Cinnamon, even though I really enjoy using it. ...
