Re: dual boot using windows boot loader
Seems like Super Grub2 Disk and Rescatux are the more recent versions - however Super Grub Disk using GRUB1 works fine for most purposes. The main reason for GRUB2 is to support GPT partitioned disks (more than 2TB typically) and LVM.

Re: dual boot using windows boot loader
Have you double-checked that sda3 is the right partition, not swap or something else? Silly question I know... You should be able to use the Win2000 boot loader, I have done this in the past. Mint 11 certainly gives the option of installing grub to the root partition (/dev/sdaX) not the MBR, and mos...

Re: Best way to migrate Ubuntu 8.04 to Mint 11?
Yes, I know it's a big jump and I'm sure some things won't work at all and will need reconfiguring from scratch. Just wanted to get a view on how best to do this and avoid having to reconfigure everything, as I have about 3 years' worth of customisations. This posting addresses a similar problem (mu...

Re: Reliable Mint version for Intel GMA3100 (G33 chipset)
Thanks for that - it's likely that 11.04 / Mint 11 will both work, but I'm hoping that someone will post with "Mint 11 is working for me since release".

Re: Switching from Ubuntu
Thanks - I was hoping for a feature I can set once in the control panel then the subscribe is set on all post that I make. I guess phpBB doesn't do that without an addon.

Reliable Mint version for Intel GMA3100 (G33 chipset)
I am migrating a PC from Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. This PC has an Intel GMA 3100 GPU (G33 chipset) which caused quite a few problems with Plymouth (getting the recovery mode of Ubuntu to boot was impossible even after much tweaking) and the view from gurus on http://lwn.net was that the kernel and Xorg ve...

Switching from Ubuntu
Switching from Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy to Mint 11, for two PCs - really like the Mint approach especially focus on stability. Linux always used to be really stable, and Mint seems to keep this while adding many user-friendly features, and all with APT repositories. I've been using Unix for a really long t...

Best way to migrate Ubuntu 8.04 to Mint 11?
First time on the Mint forums... I've been using Linux for many years, most recently Ubuntu - I'm migrating my main Linux desktop and another desktop PC to Mint because it seems more stable than Ubuntu and lets me avoid the whole Unity / GNOME 3 mess (and should have a saner approach to GNOME 3 with...
