Re: NOT able to brows

ifconfig is the Linux version of ipconfig, it just outputs your IP information. the redirect symbol ( > ) tells the program to create a text file with the name that follows the redirect. Note, if you are not behind a NAT router, don't post the report as might be revealing a public IP address. What y...

Re: Radeon 9200 -- Just doesn't work.

Had it not been that you should have a working system I'd say it's an interesting intellectual (?) challenge to play with It's so darn hard to google this - believe me, I've googled for this and other video problems quite a bit My knowledge, and my time, is not unlimited but this is something that ...

Re: Radeon 9200 -- Just doesn't work.

I tried that as it was mentioned in the help section of the Ubuntu Gutsy Live CD and it did no good. Mind you that I have tried it with the CD as well as installed system on both Ubuntu and Mint. I was able to install Fedora Core 4 off a set of alternate discs that came with my Guide to Parallel Ope...

Re: NOT able to brows

been a while since I've been on here. Did you get it working yet? Any rate, if that command didn't work then just do: sudo ifconfig > netaddress.txt this will just put it into your home directory (or whatever directory you happen to be in when you run this command), then you can copy it where ever y...

Re: Radeon 9200 -- Just doesn't work.

ok, let me sum things up here guys. Syn and I both have the same model Dell computer, A Dimension 2350. As much digging as I have had the patience to do, there is not information on what the specific mother board is. At one point in time, a year or so ago I can remember reading that the motherboard ...

Re: need to share my internet connection...

not sure about that error message sorry. However, it references a process RTNETLINK that does not exist it looks like. I also notice that it states no DHCP offers received. Is the windows machine configured to receive an IP address via DHCP? And are you using a cross-over cable instead of a straight...

Re: fixed IPs - windows can ping - linux can't

firewall may be blocking the linux machine from pinging the xp machine. but if all network sharing works, its not really an issue.

Re: NOT able to brows

did you install off live CD? if so then the problem is probably just the browser. At any rate, to see if you have an IP assigned in Mint, run the ifconfig command from terminal. If you have no idea how to read it, do the following and post here after you boot back into windows.. sudo ifconfig > /med...

Re: Micro SD Card for Cell Phone Use with Linux???

I have a Sandisk Image Mate 5 in 1 card reader connected via USB cable to my computer. It has worked in Windows XP, Ubuntu Gutsy, and LInux Mint Daryna - reads anything I put in it that it's supposed to, including microSD cards that are placed into a microSD/Transflash adapter card. I'd think about ...

Re: Problems with boot and shutdown

yes, In Ubuntu the intel driver does let me use desktop cube and what not. no so in Mint. when I try to turn it on, it tells me I need to use the nVidia driver. And of course, me like many other Dell Dimension 2350 users, simply cannot get any linux distro to boot up while using the expansion card. ...

Re: Problems with boot and shutdown

read This thread and you will see why I'm not using the nvidia card :(

don't know if posting links to my other issues is frowned upon here or not, but its a big forum... things can be overlooked, and I've got your attention here, so why not?

Re: Radeon 9200 -- Just doesn't work.

fact is that I've already got the distro installed which I did off of someone's suggestion of using the onboard graphics. So its not trying to power up the CD drive. - only the hard disk. and I doubt that it could be a power issue because as was stated before, it works just fine in Windows. It makes...

Re: Problems with boot and shutdown

sounds like you might be using an on board graphics card. I get the same behaviour on boot up as you are describing (with my on board graphics). What you can do to at least get some idea of what it is doing is by going to the menu.lst file - located at /boot/grub/ and change the line of options afte...

Re: Radeon 9200 -- Just doesn't work.

hey, I'm having the same exact issue. My Bios is revision AO2 I believe - came pre installed that way. I've got a Dell Dimension 2350. The above link for Spec sheets wont tell you anything really about my computer except for the mobo specific stuff. I've upgraded everything on it including the PSU, ...
