Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE 4.8, Help?

Go to system preferences(settings)>Bootup and shutdown>Session manager>At session startup select "start with an empty session">Aplly. Enjoy" Hope this helps!! Ah nice! I had been wond...

Electric Sheep + Mint 12 KDE

Hi all! I'm having trouble getting the Electric Sheep screensaver working in Mint 12 KDE. Before I was running Kubuntu 11.10 and it worked just fine there. What I've done so far is: 1. Installed Electric Sheep from the repos. 2. Created electricsheep.desktop file which I placed in /usr/share/kde4/se...

Re: Configure Pager like GNOME Workspaces

think this may help. right click on the pager in the tool bar. click pager settings. go to virtual desktops/switching. at the bottom of the page is the configure shortcut section. hope that helped. Yeah but how do I configure all four shortcuts? It only allows one. Scroll down the list, or just mak...

Re: High CPU observation

I was having the very same problem with both Firefox and Chrome. In Firefox the plugin-container was using high amount of cpu, with Chrome it was the chrome process itself which was gobbling up resources. This happened to me on on Ubuntu 11.10 and Mint 12. I seem to remember having a problem with it...

Re: KDE 4.8 is Out

I'm running Kubuntu 11.10 right now, waiting for final release of Mint 12 KDE. Have any of you updated your Mint 12 KDE RC to KDE 4.8? Any problems besides some incompatible widgets? I'm thinking of upgrading KDE 4.7.4->4.8 on Mint12 when it's out....bad idea or not? Will it break any of the specia...

Re: Linux Mint randomnly crashes while broswing

Hi there! I had similar problems for a while in Mint 11. After much scratching of heads and googling I finally found an answer that worked for me. It turned out to be a problem with the flash plugin. What you can try is to go to any youtube video, right-click it go to settings and disable hardware a...

Re: Oops... my application/taskbar has disappeared after reb

I want my cake and eat it! darn it  Well, with Gnome3 you can't! :) Compiz does not work with Gnome3 unfortunately :( The Gnome developers are aiming so hard to make it ultra user friendly that they've completely stripped out all the things that made it fun. The option to customize it! For...

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE RC first impressions

I'm getting really excited by the KDE version! I've been using Linux Mint 11 for some time, but upgraded to 12 a short wile ago. Long story short: I hate Gnome3. The Mint team has done a good job at customizing, but I guess no matter how much you polish a turd, it will always be a turd (Gnome3 that ...

Re: Which version of Mint are forum users using, and why?

Well, after using Mint 11 for quite some time, I decided to try again Ubuntu 11.10. Tried it for a couple of days, not excited about it. Although I liked the Windows(Super key) shortcut, Super+1, Super+2 etc.). So, I trashed Ubuntu and installed Mint 12. I like it. I'm not too happy about the lack o...

Re: Live dvd?

Mint does support that resolution. Go into Menu -> Control Center -> Monitors There you can set the resolution to 1024*768 @ 60Hz If that resolution is not available, you might need another display driver. You can check for that via Menu -> Control Center -> Additional Drivers There you can see if t...

Re: Live dvd?

You are "trying out" Linux Mint like this. Mint boots up from the DVD and there you can try it out as you want. If you want to install it permanently then you click Install. The difference is that Mint boots straight up in "try it out mode" and then gives you the option to install on the desktop if ...

Re: Blank Screens and Random Logouts

Hi! I don't know about the blank screens, but I had the random logout problem. It always happened when I was using Chrome, it seems to have been that the flash player was causing this. I finally found a solution via google: Go to youtube, open up any video, right click on the video, click settings a...
