You missed the point. The problem was not lost emails but format change from one Evolution version to the next. The emails were still in the computer but the new Evolution version changed the default place where the emails were stored and the software could not read the old format.

I solved my problem, but it will probably not fit your situation. I had to drop the DNSSD protocol for the simple socket one. I do not know why in Wheezy based the former was needed and the later is requested with Jessie based LMDE. Good luck.
