Re: 32bit Mint

Thank you all for the quick replies. It is as I thought, 64b only. I've been using Mint since 2006, and Linux since 1998, but as I'm getting an old, dual core,32b Dell (Latitude D620) setup for a newbie, I need a good easy distro. Been thinking to use antiX, but woiuld like to try LMDE first. Howev...

Re: listing contents of hard drive in terminal

Well...

Code: Select all

ls -R
...(that's an uppercase R) should do the trick!

You may want to add the "l" switch for "long listing format":

Code: Select all

ls -Rl

Very unlikely! The .exe file needs a Microsoft compatible OS to run. Hence the use of freeDOS in the tutorial.

Re: With a custom dark theme, text in some programs is virtually invisible.

I know it's a very old thread, but I've also been fiddling with this problem lately. May be an error on my part. That GTK_THEME is Firefox specific or not all programs honor the setting. No, you were right, it's not Firefox specific. And no, not all programs honor the setting. For example, env GTK_T...

Re: [Solved] Panel not clickable after cinnamon update

You don't need to delete anything: The menus are still navigable with the keyboard. Hit <Super>, Control Center, Applets. Use <Tab> to navigate through options, <Enter> to choose, and disable the applet "Window List with App Grouping". Restart Cinnamon and you should be all right (almost).

Re: lightweight dock for Cinnamon

You could try the Window List with App Grouping applet. It integrates nicely into the Cinnamon panel and works basically like a dock (app pinning, etc.).

P.S. Every time I get into Liunx Mint and after want to go in windows 7 ... my clock show from windows minus 2 hours ... if I go the first time to window 7 the clock shows correct time ... you have idea about that :?: Linux uses GMT and Windows local time, so this is normal. You might find your Chrome there Don't waste your time on this. As baldrick.777 wrote, Google recently discontinued Chrome 32 bit on Linux: Google dispensed with their 32bit chrome browser a couple of weeks back, which applies to all 32 bit Linux distros, win xp and vista os's. Re: Change locaion for Music, Downloads, etc

Do I have to replace the "$USER" with my user name? The environment variable $USER will match the name of the user running the script. But it's probably safer just to write your full username as things can get a tad complicated: $ echo $USER fromax $ sudo echo $USER fromax $ sudo sh -c 'e...

Yes, but Windows has an automated function to relocate the default folders.
There is no such thing in Mint.
