Re: (Solved) User login photo, mdmphotosetup - command not f

Thanks everyone, I actually figured out what was wrong this morning and it is now working so she is happy that her one little gripe is fixed ;) I had the photo saved as png, but needed to remove the .png at the end. It was originally saved as .face.png and once I saved it as simply .face by removing...

Re: User login photo, mdmphotosetup - command not found

Yeah, Cinnamon has the account settings option as well as a nice gui for changing the user pic, but Xfce doesn't have that. What Xfce did have though until now? was a gui that could be brought up by running command... mdmphotosetup I guess it's no longer available in Mint 16 Xfce for some reason. I ...

Re: User login photo, mdmphotosetup - command not found

I knew the .face photo had to be 100x100, but wasn't sure whether it needed to be .jpg or .png so I added one of each. Strange thing is, the photo will show up in "settings"-->"user and groups", but not on the login screen. Also wondering why mdmphotosetup worked in mint 15 Xfce but I get command no...

(Solved) User login photo, mdmphotosetup - command not found

I've been curious how to personalize the user pic or avatar at login in Mint 16 Xfce. In Mint 15 Xfce typing "mdmphotosetup" in terminal would bring up the option to change the user pic, but in Mint 16 Xfce I get command not found. Also, adding a .face photo to the home folder does nothing. Is there...

Re: Ubuntu software centre install guide on Mint 14

Just an update to let you know this also worked for Linux Mint 15 Xfce. The only difference is the last step...

open _init_.py
change the value in line 170
change it from capitalize to lower

In Mint 15 it's line 171 that needs changing instead of line 170.

Re: I can't install any programs from software manager

Have you tried using Synaptic Package Manager? Synaptic will usually give you an error and be more specific about what the problem might be. You can also try

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get -f install
followed by

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get upgrade

and see if that fixes it.

I'm not sure why it wont let you see the folder since I made it public, but here is the link to download them as a zip.

Re: linux loses another user forever

These kind of posts crack me up. This guy says he has been trying to get his friend to try Linux for several years and finally got him to try it only to find out numerous distros had a brightness problem? Huh? First of all, I have probably used at least 30 different Linux versions over the last 8 ye...

This is my Lisa (Mint 12) Desktop. It's interesting to see all the different ways people customize Mint 12. I didn't realize you could still have fortune cookies in terminal in "Lisa". How did you turn on fortune cookies? The easy way to do this in Mint 12 with Gnome 3 is - Menu>Other>DesktopSettin...
