Re: Battery is Critical, Now Hibernating

For anyone that is having this problem I found a fix that works for me in the Main Edition of Mint 12 64 bit Gnome 3:

Open dconf-editor... go to org > gnome > settings-daemon > plugins > power

Uncheck "use-time-for-policy"

I hope this helps someone else experiencing this problem.

Solved-"Laptop Battery Critically Low" at full charge

I've been having a problem with Mint 12 64 bit (Main Edition) with Gnome 3. When I unplug my fairly new laptop from the power source, I get a warning that my "Battery is Critically Low". A quick check of the battery indicator shows that my battery is 98% FULL and that I have only a few seconds remai...

Re: Battery is Critical, Now Hibernating

I have this problem as well with my fairly new laptop. I was previously using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 and this did not happen. Maybe it's something to do with the kernel? As soon as I unplug my laptop from the wall I get a critical low battery warning and within a short time the laptop hybernates (nothi...

Re: Gnome with Cairo Dock - gnome panels have vanished

<snip> So far I quite like Mint although I have to say that in spite of being familiar with linux I am now completely confused as to which features are GNOME3 and which are shell extension features. The infinite symbol and it's associated "features"/annoying behaviour, bugs the hell out of me - I a...

Re: Gnome with Cairo Dock - gnome panels have vanished

Hi :) <snip> Which brings me to my questions ... 1. where have my panels gone and is there any way to get them back? 2. If my panels are lost forever is there some way I can add "log out" to my dock or desktop? 3. I installed a Mint Menu launcher on the dock (found that in cairo extensions) which w...

Is Gnome 3 & MGSE on it's way out now that Cinnamon is here?

Now that Cinnamon is being developed, does anyone know for sure if Clem is going to end development of the MGSE's for Gnome 3 shell in future releases? I sure hope not because the more I use the Gnome Shell with the MGSE's, the more I like it. When i first tried Cinnamon I liked it, and I do feel th...

Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon

Thanks for Cinnamon! I really think it's going to be the best option for me when it matures. I really like the single panel on the bottom look. I've been trying it in a virtualbox for several days now and here's a few things I'd like to see when Cinnamon matures... 1. Ability to right click on the p...

Re: Gnome-3 "Shell Extensions"

I totally don't agree. "One size fits all" doesn't work, see Unity ... Besides, I want to decide for myself what my desktop environment looks like and how it behaves. Customizing is essential for modern software, that's why I use Firefox for browsing and Gnome 3 on the desktop. Besides, Gnome3 is p...

Re: Get classic Mint desktop in Gnome shell

Thanks very much for posting this! Could you PLEASE provide step by step instructions as to how to accomplish this? I was able to eliminate the bottom panel in 12 RC but can't seem to move the top panel down to the bottom, or create the launchers, etc... Most important... How do you install addition...
