Re: Swapping the boot drive
Thanks for the replies. Foxclone looks like a good choice for this. Both drives are the same size, so resizing partitions shouldn't be an issue. I am comfortable with the command line, creating bootable USB sticks and the BIOS boot menu. I really appreciate the suggestions. Thanks again.

Cisco Anyconnect Limited Access-DNS Failure
I've been running Cisco's Anyconnect VPN client in several Mint Mate versions, but after upgrading to Mint 21, I get this error message. Any ideas about how I can fix this? I cannot access my college's network without this client software. TIA.

Re: ASUS EeeBook X205TA (Solved)
Thanks for the replies. I had tried a 32-bit version, and the DVD/USB stick didn't even show up as a boot device. I did manage to install the newest version of 64-bit Mint xfce by doing the following on my Linux Mint desktop computer: 1. Download the bootia32.efi file. 2. Use archive manager to extr...

Re: ASUS EeeBook X205TA
That's not the problem. I have successfully installed Mint from the USB on another laptop. A DVD that I have successfully used before won't boot either. I've installed Mint on several laptops and a network using these devices. I've tried several times with this particular laptop w/o success.

ASUS EeeBook X205TA (Solved)
Hello, I have this ASUS laptop with an Atom (Intel® Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735 1.33 GHz) processor running Windows 10. I'd like to install Linux Mint on it, but I can't get it to boot from either an external DVD drive or an USB stick. The boot menu shows both the Windows boot loader and the drive I...

Running apps no longer appear on the bottom panel
They used to show up as usual, but they quit appearing a couple of weeks ago. This is rather annoying, because I can't minimize an app window and restore it again by clicking on it in the panel. I didn't change any settings, so I don't what happened. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Restoring the panel in Mate
How do you restore the panel in Mint Mate 19.0? A friend accidentally delete it, and I don't know offhand. Thanks.

Re: How to install Wine on Mint 19 / 19.1 / 19.2 / 19.3
The following steps are what I do to install the newest WINE release. I got them from the official WINE Web site: https://wiki.winehq.org/Download . sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key sudo apt-key add winehq.key sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https:...

Re: Best Mint version for a MySQL database server
I did try to use Ubuntu 18.04, but I got frustrated with attempting to set a static IP address. I created the Netplan file and applied it. It would set the static IP, but it wouldn't keep that address permanently. It keeps reverting to acquiring an address from DHCP, which, of course, renders the se...

What do you all recommend? I saw somewhere that 18.3 Mate is better on a Windows network.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Success! The instructions on this page work IF winbind is installed. That's a requirement.
Thanks for the help. I'd mark this as "Solved" if I knew how.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't found that one on that Web site, only older ones. I followed the instructions on WineHQ when I installed WINE, so I should be good to go.

How to install Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 or newer.
My library's Overdrive S/W for checking out & downloading digital books requires at least version 4 of ADE. I've found advice for using older versions of WINE to install older versions of ADE, but nothing about the current ones. I wish Adobe would release a Linux version, but they don't seem to ...

I'm looking for 'libpng12-0', which isn't in the current repository for Mint Mate 19.1. Where can I get a list of previous ones? Or, How can I install it by itself?
Thank you.
