Re: Reporting bugs - reboot after update fails on VM
Not clear why you think I'm using a version from 2006. I update my VBox installation frequently. Just today in fact.Larry78723 wrote: ⤴Tue Aug 17, 2021 11:32 am Is there a reason you're using a 2006 version of VirtualBox? The current version is 6.1.26.

Re: No help for reporting bugs?
A) A bug is not a bug just because you say it's a bug. B) Kernel bugs don't go to Mint. QED Ooooooooookkkkkkkaaaaayyyyyyyyy....... So there can be a page of links to places to report "bugs". So we can have a page of links that include a link to the kernel bug reporting page. Maybe I don't...

Re: LM20.2 broken on VirtualBOx Latest
So it is taking "quite some time" to fix apparently. Odd. I would have thought it would be easy to find and fix.JezekiljMonk wrote: ⤴Tue Aug 17, 2021 10:28 am viewtopic.php?f=231&t=354405
This is being discussed for quite some time
I look forward to the fix.

LM20.2 broken on VirtualBOx Latest
I updated my LM20.2 on VirtualBox this morning and it is completely broken. All the graphics are WHITE. All the fonts. No way to read anything to do anything. I did a fresh reinstall of 20.2 on a new VM on latest Virtualbox and it was fine. Until I updated it and then it completely broke in the same...

No help for reporting bugs?
So I gather from your reply that you don't know how to report bugs for mint either?Kadaitcha Man wrote: ⤴Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:45 pm [...]
Anyway, I hope you feel better now that you've vented at other Linux users.
Isn't that something that we all should know about?
Hum... Just a thought out of nowhere.

Re: Reporting bugs - reboot after update fails on VM
Did you ever stop and consider that this "bug" could be related to VirtualBox and/or Windows 10? Many, many users here have updated their kernels to the same version that you're using without a hitch. I would suggest reverting back to the 5.4.0-77 kernel branch and ask on the VirtualBox f...

I have installed and upgraded some hardware systems and they did not fail the first REBOOT in this way. I have several HW as well as VM linux mint system and I'll be on the look ou...

Setting up PulseEffects in LM 20
Given the current state of things, lots of folks are doing remote interviews on Youtube and other places with more or less competent sound recording. While it's pretty obvious when you've got the VIDEO set up properly, it is not obvious when the AUDIO is really messed up, maybe until after you post ...

Slow Boot Problem.
I upgraded my system and installed an M.2 SSD with a pcie-x1 card. SInce the motherboard didn't have a native M.2 slot. Sooooo. The system boots really slowly. I checked the boot.log and found that apparently, it's checking the entire disk on every boot. Do I need to set some option TRIM or somethin...

Thank you kind sir
Thanks very much.
That will tide me over until the fix is live.
I gave Ubuntu 20.04 a try last night to see if they had it fixed, and no.
But at least a fix is in the pipe.
I hate to carry USB sticks around.

BTW, Linux system can share with each other
So, Windows can share with Linux, and Linux can share with Linux. But Linux cannot share with Windows. Visibility is completely Transitive, but ability to mount drives to read / write them is not transitive. So is this called a Transitivity Failure? Or a Reciprocity Failure? Anyway, I sure would lik...

Windows 10 systems can see LM19 shares and write files to them. LM19 can see Windows 10 nodes, but cannot see shares. Error is: Unable to Mount L...

Disable Background Image
On a VM the background image is a little glitchy. I'd like to go to a plain black. LM 19.3 Cinnamon running on VirtualBox with Win 10 host [and RTX 2060 card if that matters] with 2K monitor. Anyway, previous posts, for example, from 2013. I won't quote the other one from 2011 but it's wrong too. ht...

Re: How to pin shortcut-buttons to the "Panel" taskbar and "Desktop"
I may have found an easier way, on Mint 19.1 Cinnamon: Run the app. Right-click the apps icon on the taskbar (or panel thingie) and select "Pin". Done. Mint 19.3 Cinnamon - No such option when I right click. I can't find Move to Panel anywhere except in a rclick menu inside the START MENU...

Wow. Thanks. I'll give that a try tomorrow.
It really was rocket science!
I guess the nice folks over at Pulse Audio Development might consider making that all a check box for "Enable Constant Volume".
Thanks again
