Re: 910 is the pits... Mint is better...

I've never really had a bad experience with Ubuntu or Linux Mint <_< With each new version I generally only saw improvements being made and better support for my hardware.

Re: Shiki Colors default theme for Mint 7?

I've tried that theme before but don't really like it. IMO Gnome wasn't really made for dark themes and even if there arent any glitches I think most icon sets look bad with them.

Also if I remember correctly Shiki Colors has some appearance problems in OpenOffice.

Re: Unstable Flash in Firefox

Flash is known to be unstable in Linux, there is really very little that you can do as far as I've seen.

The recently released flash for 64-bit Linux seems to be much more stable from what I've experienced and I've yet to seen it crash.

Re: Linux Mint 6 RC1 Bug Thread

Sometimes when I use the mint menu it will start switching between two categories really fast. It stops away if I go to another category for a second, but its still annoying.

I've noticed they've made some small changes to the theme. I mostly just noticed the buttons look much better on websites now.

Re: I Feel Sad Linux Is Keeping New User Away

It honestly sounds like you didn't give Linux much of a chance. All those distros in just one week? You wouldn't have the time to get used to any of them. If you aren't the person that's willing to learn then Linux isn't for you plain and simple. Linux is not Windows and never will be. I almost neve...

Re: Proposals for Mint 6

I wonder if I should mention that I no longer have the source PSD for Circles. It was lost with my old XP installation <_<

Mint Presentation

For a class I'm taking in college me and my partner have to create a presentation about something computer related that interests us. We're both Linux users so naturally we picked Linux as our project. Our plan is to give a presentation about the history of Linux and other information. We want to fi...

Re: Will Mint 6 fork from 8.10?

Wubi would be something nice to see. I want to try Linux on my desktop more but I don't want to risk repartitioning or doing a reinstall of Windows.

Re: Proposals for Mint 6

Hi everyone, I don't want to disappoint or discourage anyone. Remember this is highly subjective and even when your work doesn't get selected as the default artwork or even within the selection of alternative backgrounds it's still appreciated by the community and an asset to users. I haven't seen ...

There are alot of features I can't see Clem not wanting, especially if ease of use is one of Mints main goals. I really want to see the improved monitor and printer support in 6

50 bucks for a DVD codec is insane O_o cut that price by 90% and they might actually get someone to buy it.

Re: reason many will never want Linux in general.

As I recall there were far fewer changes going to the next version of Mint then there were going from XP to Vista. Also like stated before nobody can force you to upgrade.

Re: Mint tools

I'd imagine there might be a problem using Mint Install. All .mint files do is contain the instructions on how to install the program, but they are for 32bit programs. I know to installing 32bit programs in 64bit Linux involves using some extra commands so you might not be able to install .mint file...

Re: Mint tools

If you add

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ elyssa main upstream import
to your sources.list file in /etc/apt/ you'll have access to Linux Mints repository and should be able to install the Mint Tools through apt-get or Synaptic.

Re: Suggestion: Change Menu Name

I've always changed the name to 'Menu'. Partly for any family members who are going to use my laptop and partly because I feel it makes more sense then the name of the edition.

I think it would be more friendly to new users, but I personally don't care if its changed.

Yes it should run compiz fusion. I only have an Intel 945 GMA and it runs compiz, although certain effects are a bit slow. The rest of that systems specs are loads better them my laptop, so I presume the graphics card is also much better.
